Episode really felt lackluster. The Jannu scene at the start was great, but the pacing after that was schizophrenic. Why the fuck was there a long flashback about a character I do not care about in the slightest in the middle of this climax? For that matter, why the fuck does Astolfo exist at all? He's added nothing to this story so far. The cutaway to the other paladins did absolutely nothing other than waste time and break up the flow of the episode even more. The fight scene was pretty generic too. It wasn't dogshit with floating characters and attack-react by edit, but it wasn't impressive either. Again, what does it add anyway?

It was better paced in the manga. Basically, they decided to shove all of his backstory and two separate fights into one fight in the anime. They also actually decided to show his backstory rather than have it mostly be animation. I wonder why they chose to do that for both him and JJ because both of them got anime original backstory expansion.
