How would your favorite anime change if the protagonist was the opposite gender? I think if Shinji were a girl he'd be a very popular waifu on Any Forums, but a lot of the psychological stuff in Evangelion would have to be changed.

I think she'd become popular by riding on the popularity of Evangelion in general. There are lots of shitty, generic waifus who became popular because their series is popular
