A human that killed countless people without any remorse. Also it's not just that Deku didn't kill him. It's that he felt like saving the guy. It's just not what a normal functioning person would think. If he didn't want to kill the guy then beat the shit out of him until he can't hurt anyone anymore and force him to face up to his crimes. Deku's handling of the situation was weak willed and pathetic.

Take Batman. Batman doesn't kill, but the suspension of disbelief kicks in when
1. It doesn't seem realistic that Batman can non-lethally dispatch the amount of criminals he does
2. They all go to Arkham, get released, and kill more innocents anyways.
Deku's stick seems to be redeeming and reforming villains. Tanjiro doesn't really have that luxury when it comes to the demons he hunts, even if there are exceptions to the rule of all demons bad.
