Which series is better: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, or The Slime Diaries?
I watched the main show and it was better than I though it would be.
Character design wise, diaries.
Plot wise, diaries.
Imagine an AU where Rimuru just doesn't wear clothes :3
I like Slime Diaries better for the comedy and cutesy slice of life stuff. The action kinda stopped being fun for me. Also, I really like all the extra Shizu stuff. For some reason, I'm way more interested in Rimuru making salty soup on the trail to Bluumund and that being similar to how Shizu made it than I am in how badass his next new skill is.
A formidable opponent indeed.
Fuse is an author who's great at plot and worldbuilding, but *terrible* at writing character interactions and emotions.
This means he's constantly creating opportunities for potentially-great scenes, and then not using those opportunities.
The Slime Diaries is superior to the main series because it goes over the story again while taking those opportunities.
The connections between Rimuru and Shizu are a really interesting part of the story, because it appears that Shizu's personality became a part of Rimuru but the main story totally glosses over the implications of it
That would explain some stuff, like how willing he was to leave Tempest for however long to babysit and save those kids. Seems like most people would just be grumbling the whole time, but he just seems to take on the role of their teacher/big bro/parent like a duck to water. He seems to be haunted as well, with Shizu dropping by here and there. I mean, I guess he's literally haunted.
Yeah, Satoru wasn't nearly as a good person as post-Shizu Rimuru. He did do good things as pre-Shizu Rimuru, but only in the ways that anyone would, saving lives at very little effort to himself.
It's most obvious in the manga, since the manga is often showing what he's thinking, and his frequent bad/hostile thoughts vanish as soon as he eats Shizu.
Why are you still doing daily slime threads
Eating a cute girl and roleplaying as her would make any jaded salaryman chill out.
I am very autistic
I never really thought about his temperament before, but now that you mention it, I guess he only wants to hurt anyone if they at least appear to be seriously out of line.
I'll never understand why the first major things he does to establish how the world will recognize him is to make a cute little voice and take on the form of a girl when he didn't have to.
How do you think Shion and Shuna got him into those clothes without him noticing, while he was looking in a mirror?
This one is my favorite
Either they're just that good at dressing and undressing Rimuru, he slips into dissociative states because he's crazy, he doesn't actually mind being dolled up or it's just a gag that someone interested enough can use for some juicy thoughts.
I saw a pic from that same artist in the last thread, is there somewhere I can see more? I don't recall seeing it in the usual places I peruse.
It was interesting at the start with the main character being reborn as a slime, the weakest of all JRPG creatures, but with the ability to integrate stuff from fellow monsters.
Unfortunately it took very little time for him to already become insanely powerful, and then another very little time to literally ascend to near-untouchable OP powerlevel.
Boring. Even his henchmen and followers instantly turn OP the moment they start following MC, which is just as ridiculous.

You shouldn't go into the story expecting a good battle shounen. Unfortunately, the story sometimes is treated as one.
The manga is less guilty of this though, and The Slime Diaries doesn't have any fighting at all.
For me the diaries exposed how wafer thin the characters are and the humor is straight up trash.
Then don't introduce battle oriented abilities by the dozens.
Same, not a fan of the power dynamics in their world. It's all about the politics and pretty pictures for me.
>battle oriented
The point is to give him abilities that look like they're battle oriented that he then instead uses as management and city building skills.
Like the teleportation and stomach abilities.
