If you want a palette cleanser (i.e, Gou but with better answer arcs), go read the manga version, Meguri. GouMeguri is great so far. GouSotsu is just unfortunate.

the newer stuff (specifically sotsu) was where it really peaked and I dont understand why everyone hates on it.

Now read Gou manga and catch up to Meguri that promises alternative answer arcs. Gou Manga had some differing details too. So far it has surpassed anime in almost every aspect.
