the manga errs towards minimalism in a way that flat out fails to translate to a full color animated medium. I wouldn't call 1991 a different interpretation, but "more faithful to the spirit than the letter".
put simple a lot of sequences that feel tense and dramatic in the manga are depicted as very tense and dramatic in 1991 but come across as rather blase in 2011

why people treat this show like some master piece? is it just childhood nostalgia? I watched it until few episodes after they arrived to Killua's house I think somewhere between 20-40 episode I stopped watching because it was too boring, slow, fillers and just a children's show.
