SHIKI (2010)

I started rewatching it some time ago and it made me thinking - how was Any Forums like when it was airing? Was it popular?

Did Any Forums like the Doc?

Any Forums loved it IIRC. The Doctor was especially based, as was Rage Santa

Generally Any Forums like the portrayal of the working class comrades rising up against the capitalist bourgeois.

AISHII

I'd say everyone loved the doctor. If he wasn't there then the show wouldn't have been nearly as interesting.

communism

It was great

It wasn't particularly popular at first (especially compared to previous noitamina titles) but it built up slowly until doctor started acting and everybody got hyped when shit finally hit the fan (the jeep getting blocked by santa).
Also, a month of hiatus at the midpoint preceeded by a sneaky spoiler montage for next few episodes was not cool.

Every episode was an absolute treasure trove of great memes. I loved every moment of it.

>tortured his wife to death just to find a way to kill all the vampires

He was in the wrong

>crushed by the machines of labour!
I fucking loved those threads. I really did.

Ah yes, the old "the vampires did nothing wrong!" shitposts. You would have gotten a lot of (you)s for that, back in the day

The threads were a lot of fun with vampirefags and humanfags flinging shit at each other

OST was pretty good too

This scene still fucking gets me

was the implication that she cheated on him or did he just not give a fuck about her? because when I watched it I had the feeling that he wanted her to die and turn

IIRC it was an arranged marriage that their parents set up. I think he still genuinely cared for her but he was absorbed in his work for the most part. He clearly did give a fuck about her but he completely buried that emotion in order to study study her after she had turned so that he would find a way to stop the Shiki.

...

It kinda falls flat when you realize no one had to die. Vampires in the show could've just lived off bloodpacks and there was no reason for them to hide except for the fact that they killed people.

I mean they wouldn't even have to suck people dry? There's zero barriers for human & vampire coexistence and it only takes one vamp to come out

It doesnt fall flat in that your point is clearly made in the course of the show. The Shiki are simply greedy and had a superiority complex over the normal humans and thought that they could do whatever the fuck they wanted with their little rural kingdom and nobody would notice or resist.

It was a simply case of arrogance and greed fucking a group over.

Remember when anime OPs were actually good?
