What’s the weakest Studio Ghibli film?

I don't know but I know which one is the best

Mononoke.

Best is Princess Kaguya.
Worst is Earwig & the Witch.

Nausicaa

That Takahata one about tanukis.

Ocean Waves or Earthsea
Pom Poko was fucking awesome

Go fuck yourself, Pom Poko is great

Totoro was fucking boring, massive waste of potential.

It goes nowhere for two hours. It is a collection of disconnected short stories, the overall narrative is non-existent and I could not care less about the characters. It feels very unpolished for a Ghibli movie.

Are you genuinely retarded and/or a construction worker falseflagging to make us not side with the tanukis

Ponyo is a better Totoro.

Howls moving castle and from up on poppy hill.

Whatever Earthsea was.

Easy. Next thread please.

I'm just disappointed it could be much more. I mean, anything involved tanukis should be awesome.

Arietty.

I agree it was pretty bad, especially when the evil disgusting tanuki destroyed the honorable productive human settlement.
Let's all drive our cars to Mcdonalds in protest of this awful film

The hell is this cover.

and both are by his son, kek

Whisper of the Heart

I was tempted to say My Neighbours the Yamadas, but I think that's just being overly harsh on the differing animation style
(also I haven't seen any of their 2010s output yet, so hardly a definitive opinion)

I swear every Goro movie is worse than the previous one.

now we're shitposting
Whisper is literally their best film. The opening sequence alone is better than the entirety of Tomino's output combined.
Whisper is SO good that the director died from a stress related heart attack working on it, it was that damn special.

Watch The Wind Rises and ignore the rest.

>Whisper of the Heart
Or I might have meant The Cat Returns, I can't actually remember. I think the sequel where the cat character… returns.

Yeah I might have fucked up by relying on the Optimum spine numbering, which has Cat Returns as 2 and Whisper as 11

>cat returns as 2
>whisper as 11
>when cat returns is the story she writes in whisper therefore happens afterwards
literally triggered

Totoro was the worst I've seen. Absolute waste of time with nothing happening until the final 10 minutes that still ended up being nothing. If you're going to do a movie with cute fantasy creatures make sure to put them in for more than 5 minutes of it.

Probably you mean The Cat Returns, that weird spin--off/sequel which is a not-so-short short film.

That also sucked, I always forget it's linked to ghibli since it looks so different. Terrible and the cats were assholes.

Based
Cringe.

Yeah I think it pissed me off back in the day when I bought them

Here's the order:
01 - Nausicaä
02 - The Cat Returns
03 - Porco Rosso
04 - Pom Poko
05 - Kiki's Delivery Service
06 - Laputa
07 - Howl's Moving Castle
08 - Mononoke
09 - Totoro
10 - Grave of the Fireflies
11 - Whisper of the Heart
12 - My Neighbours the Yamadas
13 - Spirited Away
14 - Only Yesterday
17 - Ponyo

Those are all the ones I own, plus Cagliostro which isn't numbered. (and for some reason I still haven't watched Ponyo). No idea what ordering they were going for

I haven't seen all of them yet, but my least favorite out of the ones I saw was probably The Wind Rises. I didn't think it was a bad or mediocre film, it just wasn't my cup of tea.

I thought From Up on Poppy Hill was good though.

Cagliostro, easily.

Earthsea was so shit it made me completely stop my Ghibli marathon 2 years ago.

>Incest
Every Goroshit sucks.

My only complain with Poppy Hill is the meh ending, and that was not Goro's fault. Everything else he has touched is so bad I'm convinced Miyazaki had his son on a short leash during production.
