Turn A Gundam

Just finished this series. One of the best anime I've ever seen.
The characters, the atmosphere, the world building, the music, the animation, the mecha design, the story.
It is all around great.
The only problems I had were the stupid Mayan plot and Turn X looks generic.
Have you seen it? What did you think of it?

Haven't seen it but I listen to the track Moon sometimes

>Turn X looks generic.
In what possible way? Where have you seen anything like the Turn X? It's probably one of the most unique mobile suits out there.

Anyways to answer the other question I love Turn A gundam a lot.

It's on my list, I just want to make sure I've seen enough gundam to catch most of the references
So far I've done MSG, Zeta, ZZ, Char's Bad Idea, Unicorn, War in da Pocket, Wing, SeeD and G Gundam, and I'm not sure if I should watch Victory Gundam, Stardust Memory, and/or F91 next

It's a great track, and it is used very well in the series.
It has a unique concept. But in the series its design doesn't stand out at all. It mostly just looks like a chunk of metal. Maybe I'd like it more if it was a different colour.

Turn X's color scheme makes me think of Zaku even though it lacks the monoeye, I always like to think of it as the final evolution counterpart like Turn A.

>and I'm not sure if I should watch Victory Gundam, Stardust Memory, and/or F91
I don't remember any references to these, but maybe I was just blind.
Though I did see After War X being referenced, so if you want to catch them all you should see that too.

thanks good to know

I gave up I think shortly after the Mayans. I liked it at first but gradually got bored.

The story becomes a lot more fast paced when they get to the moon. So maybe you'd like it more then.
It also has a great ending, which I think is worth seeing if you've gotten that far. Even if you got somewhat bored with it.

Glad you enjoyed it. Turn A remains one of my fav Gundam series and also one of my fav Tomino series.

You want to watch X and Victory not so much for the specific references/cameo of certain mobile suits, but more for the narrative themes that lead to Turn A. In Tomino Gundam like early UC, there's wars but people still live in some semblance of comfort and society. Then you get to late UC like Victory where Gundams are being mass produced but at the same time you can see that everywhere the protagonist's gang goes, it's all just ruins. X isn't UC but it continues with the same theme of how arm's race and escalations of wars lead to greater society breakdown; hence why X is basically Mad Max type of situation where there's basically none of the functioning cities like you see in Gundam 79. This escalation thus lead to the point of no return which would be similar to the situation of the Black History in Turn A. So in Turn A people have to rebuild society again.
And the finally you have the epilogue which is G-Reco, where humans have recovered to as before and you see vibrant functioning cities like early UC.

gotcha, I'll jot that down

>if I should watch Victory Gundam
Watch it for based Katejina.

That's certainly what X is supposed to be at first but they absolutely just go to a bunch of normal cities with functional governments after the first arc.

>stupid Mayan plot
Literally two fucking episodes. That's almost as dumb as thinking Moon Moon ruined ZZ

Wait, G-Reco takes place after Turn A? I thought it was meant to be before.

It doesn't have any distinct traits. You could say there are a ton of MOTW from kamen rider and sentai that don't resemble anything else but still look generic.

Didn't say it ruined it. Just that it was a part I disliked.

>Turn X looks generic
Actual shit taste my friend but this is Any Forums so I shouldn't be surprised. Glad you enjoyed Turn A though, it really is one of the greats and should have been the end of Gundam as a whole.
