Well, you see back in the 80s and 90s American media was really popular in Japan specially among the otaku that worked in the manga and anime industry so a lot of their works were influenced by american media.

all form of tv, anime, film, literature, music, etc.... copied western ones at some point, it's just inevitable especially considering film is a western invention and there is no extensive literary canon that is as rich as the western one.
the only exceptions I can think of is tribal music and really old oriental texts that were made before any contact with the western world, but none of these matter when talking about modern media, so yes anime is by its own existence an extension of western cinema.

It was so cool back then, when there were a bunch of Blade Runners, Mad Max, and other Western sci-fi-inspired shows kek. Now you only have anime which blatantly copy other anime.

That sorta copied blade runner in the opening scene to establish the future and who best boy Taylor is, but only in a very vague inspiration way. It was then sorta copied much later in new blade runner, although it's hard to say if anyone who worked on that even watched this or just did the comforting girl thing because that makes sense in a literary tropish way.

"Copying" is not a flaw unless it is done poorly, as even the most uninspired and tired foundations can be used to make gold, and the most "deep" or "rich" inspirational foundations can still be used to make the most uninspired garbage.
