He's easy to approach, he doesn't respond like his perverted retard friends, he's very friendly in general, and even though Yamada is near-constantly eating, Ichi seems to think nothing of it other than protecting her from the consequences of her airheadedness. Although the biggest thing that very clearly illustrates how she went from "Oh this weird guy could be a fun friend" to "I am literally trying to find the right moment to rape this boy" is a gradient based on how hard Ichi works to try to change himself, and how much it's pointed to Yamada.

He's cute, available and nonthreatening enough to make it past her protective circle of friends.

She believes his actions are genuine because he constantly does nice things for her and says nice things about her when she’s not there. Most adults and kids her age see her as something to use for personal gain.

I like this manga more than other romcoms because it's a nice refreshing love blossoming slowly over time and not the same tired OH I OVERHEARD HIM SAY ONE MAGIC THING THAT JUST CLICKED tripe as everything else.
