Why the fuck are villains in this series so obsessed with destroying everything? Isn't this extremely lazy writing? Think about it, you could have so many options to make a villain and his motivations unique or complex to make him interesting but all they fucking do is >Obtain more power >Destroy more stuff like bitch please, you can do literally everything with your power and you just wanna destroy earth or have le world domination? Its so bad and one-sided, the author clearly doesnt even give 2 shits and just slaps the most boring and generic personalities on the bad guys to the point they all feel samey.
Im not asking them to be deep like griffith or johann tier but lets just compare boo with meruem for example, its way more realistic and better written, the dude kills and destroys too but then soon gets bored of it and finds new hobbies and discovers/experiences new stuff so he actually develops as a character to the point where you can actually relate with him and his actions even though he is still evil, theres none of that with boo, there is no depth, they are just evil for the sake of being evil, its like what a kid would come up with when trying to create new villains.
Freezer wanted to be immortal Cellphone wanted to fight Boo wanted to destroy everything, yes

Frieza doesn't care about destroying everything, he's an Emperor who sells and trades planets.
Cell doesn't know his goals but it's likely he would search for a good rival.
Buu is chaotic evil and the only one who actually wants to destroy everything.
Joshua Fisher
>deep like griffith or johann
Colton Ramirez
it's simple entertainment for simple minds if it's dumb but it works then it's not dumb If it doesn't work for you then walk away and find something that does
Grayson Collins
Frieza ran an empire, dumbass. Destroying everything is against his best interests.
Kayden Rivera
>Freezer wanted to be immortal so that he could have to power to be able to kill and destroy everything at will >Cellphone wanted to fight his goal was literally to be the strongest and he would have destroyed at least earth if not goku and co. were there
Nathan King
pretty sure he was destroying planets for fun. i dont see how him becoming immortal or stronger would not amplify this chaotic behaviour.
Ethan Morris
>pretty sure he was destroying planets for fun. Name one.
Gabriel Lopez
dragon ball has extremely simple writing, its literally just become stronger and fight stronger villains. there is nothing complex about this show at its core and thats why its so popular
Hudson Gutierrez
>Cell doesn't know his goals but it's likely he would search for a good rival. >Cell doesn't know his goals great writing!
Sebastian Ward
Toriyama wasn't trying to create a deep plot or characters, he just wanted to make a fun manga for boys
Jayden Flores
I got bored with Cell and Buu since they both had a amalgamation of other fighters/regeneration/can copy techniques gimmick. I think Toriyama ran out of ideas to make them seem threatening so he had to grasp for straws and go WHAT IF FRIEZA, A SAIYAN, AND A NAMEKIAN HAD A BABY???
Aaron Carter
>so that he could have to power to be able to kill and destroy everything at will No, it was so he would not die, even if he engaged on some casual genocide on the side of running his empire >his goal was literally to be the strongest and he would have destroyed at least earth if not goku and co. were there No he wanted to have good fights and destroying the planet was just an accident of that
Aaron Garcia
Buu was pretty fun before he started absorbing people, turning people into sweets and eating them was a good power
Nolan Price
he had no real reason to destroy planet vegeta, even if they did become rebellious he was still many times stronger than even their best warriors so he blew up the whole planet just because he could and it was fun for him to do so. i dont know if they revealed stuff about other planets he destroyed but you get the point, its idiotic and being evil for the sake of being evil.
Just setting an example and getting rid of a legend at the same time.
William Campbell
Dragon Ball villains are still the gold standard when it comes to presence and intimidation
Joshua Ross
you can still make a fun manga without the villains being braindead and cliche af. its pretty much the definition of lazy writing
Caleb Foster
Toriyama tried to do that with the Androids but his editor told him to add Cell.
Cell had at least an interesting dynamic at the start, where he was hiding from the heroes and they had to protect other villains from him.
Blake Clark
Dragon Ball is neither of those, it was a very fresh and exciting series that became a global phenomenon
Juan Baker
He had plenty of reason to destroy the planet: sayans becoming too strong was indeed a threat and also the legend of the super sayan was known and shown to become true in the series
Samuel Miller
>even if they did become rebellious he was still many times stronger than even their best warriors He wasn't scared of regular saiyans, it was because he knew super saiyans were a thing.
Then Super gave the dumb retcon of "Beerus told him to do it".
Eli Gutierrez
i guess so but then it devolved into the same generic shit sooner or later. eh, i feel like people just didnt have standards back then so you could get away with lazy writing.
Luis Scott
S-simple Shonen can't be fun for young boys. Please, end it.
Camden Anderson
>zoomers think writing standards didn't exist before they were born
Lucas Gonzalez
OP probably wasn't even born when db was airing
David Wilson
the saiyans were harmless against someone like freeza, he didnt destroy the planet because he feared their power and he didnt believe in the legend anyways, he just heard of it and then vegeta piqued his interest about it because he kept mentioning it. he destroyed the planet because he just felt like it.
Angel Gonzalez
he destroyed it because the saiyans lead a coup against him
Cameron Hall
can you really say dbz would be as popular as it was back then if it would air now? back then there just wasnt enough competition and people werent as creative, anime wasnt even that popular. it was just the right thing at the right time, nothing unique or special about it.
Tyler Bell
please stop posting
Henry Harris
Wtf are you talking about?, mythology often had similar writing that stuff from today, heck, Gilgamesh is literally an adventure battle shonen.
Noah Brooks
It was not cliche when it released. Zoomer.
Jace Gonzalez
cant prove me wrong eh? >destroying an entire planet because some weak faggots started acting uppity how fucking boring
Gabriel Wood
No, he was clearly afraid of the Sayans being his demise in the future and he was right in doing so as per the events in the series
Dominic Watson
at the time freeza wasnt afraid of anyone until goku turned super saiyan for the first time. the events later on dont matter.
