This archetype actually doesn't exist and only exists in the minds of teenagers who want to make themselves look mature by shitting on a boogeyman of a person trying to make themselves look mature. the person who popularized this boogeyman is ironically the most juvenile person on the internet and is loved by equally juvenile people.
To give a music analogy, listening to Pink Floyd as a 13 year old means you are wise beyond your years and will probably go on to develop great taste in music. similarly watching ozu films as a 15 year old is a good thing meanwhile most of your peers will probably go on watching marvel films and listening to rap into their late 20s and will probably never develop good taste in anything.
Bringing this back to anime. In plain terms I respect a 13 year old who watches Ashita no Joe to partly look cool more than I respect a 20 year old who watches seasonal anime exclusively, the latter is most definitley an npc, the first has a chance of not being an npc.
You're taking shitposting way too fucking seriously dude.
Brandon Gray
>similarly watching ozu films as a 15 year old is a good thing Actually no. 15 year olds are not yet ready for Ozu, they simply don't have the necessary life experience to appreciate his work. Any teen that says they like Ozu is 100% a poser.
Samuel Morris
So you're 16 and struggling in English class.
Josiah Cox
>To give a music analogy, listening to Pink Floyd as a 13 year old means you are wise beyond your years and will probably go on to develop great taste in music that is the most "i'm not like other girls" post I've seen in Any Forums in quite a fucking while
Colton Morris
Why is lupin In that image?
Oliver Lopez
This but unironically
Tyler Cook
One thing that still annoys me about how the internet developed is that the global village, in its most specifici meaning, never happened. I believed in it, a lot, but it just never happened. I hoped that the internet would free people, it would let them actually be happy about what they like, setting them free from the closed minds of people around them who, even if not evil, didn't understand their hobbies.
And instead the opposite happened, all the insecurities and weakness spread even further and now we have an entire generation that feels the need to hid behind layers of sarcasm and irony because they are afraid of being mocked.
Nathaniel Kelly
Why'd you recycle your shitty opinion from last month instead of coming up with something new?
This image is so oddly specific that I think OP just feels butthurt and called out
Sebastian Diaz
Who the fuck struggles in English class of all things?
Elijah Edwards
It's actually not specific at all, it's just a collection of good/artsy/influential anime.
Tyler Perez
most of them are not good and only a couple are significantly influential
Hunter Cruz
I did until I got the right teacher to get me through it. It wasn't that I couldn't understand it or anything like that, it was just so immensely fucking boring that I gave approximately zero fucks and put in a commensurate amount of effort.
Hudson Lopez
unironically touch grass and stop being underage
Justin Torres
>the person who popularized this boogeyman is ironically the most juvenile person on the internet Who is this referring to?
Noah Roberts
This is stupid and contradictory. If you're having trouble understanding literature, you will have trouble understanding artsy pretentious anime.
Kevin Hughes
I watched Ozu AND Marvel films as a fifteen year old.
The person who made this image doesn't even read books.
Outside of meme tier shit like Finnegans Wake, DEEP anime is just as thematically dense as "da classics."
Robert Robinson
>meme tier shit like Finnegans Wake Joyce wins yet again, a century of being the last great writer, the apex of english literature and filtering people like you.
Anthony Turner
Kill yourself, holy shit.
Kayden Ross
Touch grass
Sebastian Jackson
It exists, that was literally me when I was 16.
David Russell
The fact that you typed all this shit out in the first place over some dumb ass image means it hit a nerve so clearly they do exist LOL Way to go nimrod.
Adam Howard
the only thing in that picture I've watched in its entirety from start to finish is lain, how fucked am I?
Jackson Cruz
It's okay if you've been watching anime for less than a year
Liam Thompson
I've been watching it on and off for 17 years
Jordan Hall
>muh life experience ozu deals with social themes related to the family that a 15 years old is perfectly be able to understand
Kevin Bailey
Nah it kinda exists theres a shit ton of people who only watch shows based on some retarded reddit top ten list so they seem mature and smart Yea its pretty sad and its getting worse everyone wants to desperately be part of the masses
Luis Bennett
You can't call someone underage while using twitter insult used by 12 year olds
Jacob Evans
they're the best of the best and yet artistically they're worth less than middle school literature. It's just a fact. the joke is if you're going to pose as an intellectual anime fan by watching the most 'deep' anime out there you're still as shallow as harry potter-tier book reader. The lesson is that you should just enjoy anime and not participate in elitist circle-jerking. Even the best modern authors acknowledge superiority of books. Anime fans when they realize this get butthurt that they can't use anime medium to boost their self-worth just like a porn addict can't flex to the public how much well-drawn hentai he read.
