I have... one hundred men-at-arms in Jerusalem

Is that supposed to be a lot?

yes
well trained well armed men had a lot more impact in the midle ages
the only equalizer was crossbows
but it was gunpowder that really eneded melee

But where did Napoleon keep his armies?

is it weird to want to see a whole movie about that village at the beginning? the characters, the every day life, etc.

Dark hair + pale skin + light eyes gets me diamonds bros

during the crusades the largest army of knights was only a few thousand.
costumekino. we need more.

Every time I watch this with someone the same question results.

>I don't get it, why won't he marry her? He's already fucking he isn't? What the fuck. Who the fuck wouldn't marry Eva Green? I don't understand this!

bigger bastard in real life than the movie shown. We shouldve got his Antioch encounters.

I figured he was less since he didn't actually kill Saladin's sister.

Because marrying her would mean he was responsible for her husbands death.
He ends up with her anyway and doesnt have his murder on his soul.

>100 men sitting around getting paid just to train
>They require food, lodging and equipment
At the time the total population of London was 20,000 people so yes, it's a decent amount

imagine trying to take on the Greeks/Romans. Literally sailed to Cyprus, took everything they could so much it took generations to recover.

The entire Crusader army at Ascalon was 10,000 (not all man at arms) so 100 semi professional soldiers is quite a good number. Keep in mind that each is going to have his own arms and armor, at least one or two horses, and some sort of manservant to do all the menial tasks.

he was a huge moralfag

Yes, because they can lead 100 more each.

It is. In a time when well-equipped and trained men were rare combined with generally lower population levels, that's not bad. Remember, he's one of a few vassals (who also have a hundred or two men) to his liege lord and can probably scrape together a couple hundred more conscripts as well if he had to. When you add it all up, it's a sizeable force.

>participants in religious war are moralfags
wow

Good quote honestly for such an anti Christian ahistorical mess.

Was I filtered for thinking this movie was pro-chrstian but anti-srctet societies?

it's an extremely blatant anti-Bush movie that tries to portray fucking crusaders of all people as enlightened secular christians

still kino though

If they were trained soldiers then yes that's a lot. Armies back then usually consisted of 20-30k men tops, usually less, and those were mostly peasants raised by levy as nobles had the duty to raise troops for their king when required, and in return could profit of the land and the people who were glorified slaves called serfs. The actual knights in armor who dedicated their life to combat training were a small minority and consisted mostly of nobility.

It's also treats Saladin and the Muslims like sacred dindunuffins. Nigger he made Balian and the bishop of Jerusalem pay for every single soul that left the city and when they ran out of money he refused to accept them as ransom because he wanted slaves to give to his soldiers. He did not let everyone go for free and he did not respect Christianity any more than Christianity respected Islam.

Also the priest is depicted as a craven selfish man and there's a few lines about jews being great or whatever
