Basically, if you watch LOST just for the plot and mysteries, and don't care as much about the characters then you won't understand the appeal of season 6.
Season 8 of GoT on the other hand, completely casts aside all meaningful and satisfying character development in service of the extremely rushed, nonsensical plot. Characters act like complete retards just because the plot demands it. It is so unsatisfying to watch. It genuinely feels insulting. All these characters you had become invested in over multiple seasons just feel so fucking hollow and like a parody of themselves. The show becomes full on capeshit. Favouring big budget spectacle at the expense of solid writing.
Whereas with LOST, apart from maybe Sayid and Claire, pretty much all of the main characters have satisfying, logical arcs, even if you hate the answers to some of the mysteries and the direction of the plot. It's what makes the show so rewatchable for me. Also, there are some genuinely great episodes in the final season. It's not all trash up until the final 10 minutes of the finale. Ab Aeterno alone is probably a top 10 episode of LOST for me.

Yeah, that and the way the mysteries were set up attracted more sci-fi people and hinted at sci-fi causes, but then it turned heavily into religious/supernatural explanations during a time period when Americans were rapidly becoming non-religious/spiritual.

Completely agree. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen any media where the characterization is done so well and the plot done so badly at the same time. Usually it’s both good, both bad, or a compelling storyline with black slate undeveloped characters.

The whole submarine sequence in season 6 was really bad. The submarine CGI looked like a PlayStation 1 cinematic. The bomb ticking faster when they try to disarm it is capeshit-tier. Made the man in black look like a moustache twirling villain who I couldn’t take seriously any more.

Nothing in terms of logic. I just thought the writers could have made better use of those characters in comparison to the rest of the main cast.
The whole zombie Sayid and squirrel momma Claire thing just doesn't do it for me. But neither are anywhere near as offensive as some of the shit we saw with GoT's characters in their final season.
