ironically, what stands out from NGE isn't the theme of loneliness (not a strictly philosophical concept btw) but the sincerity of Anno whos just putting his insecurities on full display. that's the main draw for me and makes the show worthwhile, the fact that it's a very earnest show even if it can be a bit juvenile in its execution
Sopranos on the other hand is based around themes that can be aproached philosophically in a very strict way, mainly the theme of death, the fact that human existence is grounded on itself, religion, cultural critique, etc.
