Fucking hell, no way. Only some of them were. Galadriel and Arwen and Thranduil were excellent, but Elrond was bad casting. Tthey're much better casting on average than RoP's plain elves because it understood the phenotype and grace elves are supposed to have, yes, but it's not 10/10 either.

The portrayal of Galadriel shits all over the lore. In Tolkien's work, elves are ethereal and wise beings. The show goes for the opposite. A young Galadriel fighting another elve in Valinor over a fucking boat isn't just harmless fanfiction, it's the literal antithesis of what Tolkien wrote about kindness, mercy, compassion. We are three episodes in and Elves act like violent psychopaths who attack their own kin before even coming to Middle Earth.

I actually like these elves from a stylistic perspective. The elves of the third age have been more of less isolated for 3000 years, men have degenerated further and have more or less forgotten about elves, so when men come into contact with elves it's a shock and the differences are stark. 1000 years into the second age is still early enough that elf-man contact is regular and frequent and the differences would appear much smaller. Stylistically, I kinda like it. Though I can't lie I'd still much rather they all have long hair.
