What are some of Any Forums's favourite comedies released before the year 2000? Pic is one of my favourites.
Pre 2K Comedies

As a kid I used to laugh my ass off at movies by Leslie Nielsen, so I downloaded Airplane recently and...
I only released a bit of air through my noise twice the entire movie. My inner child is dead.
Sad!
Tried rewatching some of those classic comedies recently, Airplane, Blazing Saddles(the whole Brooks line up really), they just bored me, they felt hacky and cheesy, but not in a charming way. Maybe they arent for me and past me was just a starry eyed lad, Naked Gun was still spectacular though.

How?
>hacky and cheesy
Now that you mention it, when I watch, say, Charlie Chaplin or Tom & Jerry, I still find it funny. They haven't grown stale.
Could it be because the Chaplin/Tom & Jerry stuff is more like a choreography, with thought put into the motions, not only the gags?
I notice perspective on comedy changes a lot more than for other genres. I can watch a comedy and like it, then five years later watch it again and hate it. But that's never happened for an action movie I liked or a western. I watched a fistful of dollars when I was 11 and I still like it to this day. Maybe comedic taste it much more malleable.
A Fish called Wanda

The sequal was better.
