well nobody ever mistook you for bright
The whole book is like an almost incoherent tongue in cheek dream diary. If you shot it straight as a standard sci-fi series it woudn't even make any sense.

How would you adapt Severians narration? The entire crux of the book is you're being told it by a literal sociopath.
It would be too hard to hide the fact that it's sci-fi and not fantasy
Proof?
It could be done, it would just have to be done VERY skillfully. You'd basically have to have as much of mastery of visual storytelling as Wolfe had over literary storytelling by cleverly obscuring things. There's a way to pull it off in a smart way, I just don't think anyone currently working is capable of that much subtlety.
Severian is a self obsessed lying sociopath. That's the proof

Where the fuck can I buy Book of the Short Sun at a reasonable price? Buying the individual volumes is extremely expensive for what it is, and I’ve never seen the omnibus even for sale.
Also, you'd have to figure out a way to work Severians narration in as the core of the narrative. I really don't know how you'd do this. The book begins with Wolfe saying he received these words directly from Severian, maybe you could construct some reason that everything you're seeing was explicitly created by Severian? I really don't know. There's too many hurdles to figure out, and it's too niche for anyone to care about adapting anyway.
Could this work as a narration device if it's done in a more serious tone
I see the individual volumes on sale for like $8 ea on Amazon
Idk what youre referencing but if it's some sort of 4th wall breaking I don't think it could work. It would make the whole thing feel too hokey.
The only way I can think is just have a Blade Runner esque narration throughout of Severian narrating everything thats happening. You'd have to be subtle about the inconsistencies and gaps in the narrative, and some parts might come off as odd as a result of Severian's bias, but again, I can see it working if it was done properly.
Ebooks? I’m looking for print, I already have the pirated ebooks.

I haven't read it. How many nogs, trannies, and mary sues can we swap out for the actual characters?
Good world, cardboard characters. Sad! Many such cases.
Wow it's almost if our entire point of view was one self obsessed character who doesn't care about anyone besides himself
Lol I love how the words narcissist and sociopath get thrown around nowadays by pseuds
I love Severian but you can't deny these things
"Sociopath" is too far but he's definitely narcissistic.
What do you expect from a guy raised in a torturers guild
