Blu ray is literally blue, dvd is washed out, 4k version is a cgi smearfest with everything looking like a SNES game being emulated, it's miserable. Fuck this industry.

If I had to guess then I'd say constantly releasing imperfect versions allows them to keep releasing versions so the dollars keep rolling on in. That's a stupid theory but the alternative is that dozens of professional editors, producers, colour-graders etc. over a span of two decades have all been too fucking stupid to use their eyes and get basic shit right.

Because they did something to the sun so now they have to change all the old movies. The sun used to be yellow. Anyone remember the sun being a warm golden yellow light instead of the harsh white light we get today? I remember being a little kid in school and we would draw the sun. We would pick a yellow crayon and draw the sun because that's what colour it was. Go look at the sun in 2022 and it's a piercingly harsh white light that burns the skin. The white light washes out all the colour yet decades ago, the warm yellow sun would make everything very colourful and vibrant.
