First contact with xenos and having absolutely no idea what they were getting into.

Be real. Ripley’s story sounds like she’s fucking deranged. NO ONE would take what she said seriously.

Lt. Gormon. He acted like they were on some sort of time crunch to get the mission done. After they realized, while they were walking in, that they were under the primary heat exchangers, they should have pulled back and re-evaluated instead of taking everyone's weapons and still sending them forward.

...without explanation

spunkmeyer killed them all

That was the second deathknell definitely. They might have made it off that rock after the first battle if not for him

1. So there can be a story with tension. On paper the Marines have more than enough to curb stomp the aliens. They seem like there's thousands, but there's only like a hundred or so, because they use 1 colonist for each alien.

2. They were under-prepared and walked right into an ambush and panicked. They are implied to be inexperienced in actual combat, and only done mop up operations and "bug hunts" against pesky critters. They expected to find some medium sized rat creatures ors omething and blast them and then turn on the coms and go home.

3.

their lt for not making them retreat when they found out there was nuclear reactors in the structure they were searching, he instead made them give up their ammo

I always wondered what they were refering to with a bug hunt. Have humans encountered other (lesser) alien species in this universe?

did u even watch the movie?

James Cameron has a specific view of the military / corporate hierarchal structure and the dangers of allowing a single individual autonomy over the lives of his subordinates and the specifics of the mission. All of his films involve a person of power making inept decisions that effect countless others lives. The captain on titanic, the general on avatar and

Except that the team had PLENTY of steady lead-in evidence validating Ripley's account once they were on site and not in immediate danger. She seems crazy during the briefing, but that's quickly dispelled on the ground. Actually, no one on the Sulaco totally disbelieves her at any point, they just don't understand what's happening until it's too late.

-The site is in fact vacant. It wasn't just a communication problem, after all About 150 people are missing.
-There has clearly been a struggle. There's smashed up equipment and signs of barricading.
-There are SPECIMENS of facehuggers. Proof. The organism is real, and not something Ripley made up.
-There is an odd BURN through metal, validated by company man Burke. These things have acid for blood. The marines themselves are aware of Ripley's account.

Gorman is most to blame.

What about t2? The black guy sacrifices himself for the good of humanity despite his pride in all he’s accomplished. Seems pretty flattering.

Because they were inept? They were perfectly good at just slinging metal down range, but beyond that they were pretty braindead and had an absolute moron for a leader (by Weyland Yutani design).

The colonial marines are perfectly fine for shooting pests or putting down armed uprisings: they do not have the strategic or tactical acumen, nor professional discipline and focus, to take on a threat as indomitable, sneaky and coordinated as Xenomorphs.

tl;dr the colonial marines are glorified pest and civilian control that too many people overrate

Yes, but let’s be honest. The Marines fucked up the minute they sent a small team of, what, 12 people for what turned out to be a full on xenomorph infestation? And that was a matter of not taking Ripley’s account seriously and sending in everything they had with the idea of wiping them out (she literally told them there could be hundreds or even thousands of them). All the bad decisions that happened once they were on the ground, while certainly tactically flawed, was probably mostly inconsequential anyway. There really wasn’t any brilliant strategy that was gonna let them overcome a xenomorph force of that magnitude with the manpower and resources they had on hand in the first place.

Why are marines so fucking dyel?
They are so supposed to be muscular

>bug hunt
In expanded universe alien creature have been discovered, but they are just insects and dumb creatures and not exciting
I think this was mentioned in “aliens:prototype” novel.
I also think theres been references to alien safaris in one of the Aliens vs predator comics.

and because fox/darkhorse can’t help themselves I think there was recently a comic or novel where Vasquez turns out, has encountered xenos before. But never mentioned it to anyone else.

In Gorman’s defense.
They were looking for colonist survivors,
They didn’t know what had happened to them or if any where left alive.
So when the PIDs recorded all of them in the cooling tower there was a chance they might’ve been alive.

However, once the reactor was Established as being a hazard, troops pulled back instead of yanking ammo.
Yanking ammo and not explaining it was the dumbest move,

He was a complete fuck up from the moment they got in the drop ship. He should have kept his inexperience to himself.

Shut the fuck up psued. Nobody gives a shit about what happens outside of the movie.

Your the type of faggot that jerked off when jk Rowling said dumbldore smoked cock.
