Past all the wokeness drama, nobody seems to be talking about how one of the worst things about RoP is the elves. They don't come off as divine beings at all. They seem too human. In the trilogy, they had an otherworldly quality but in the show they act like squabbling politicians.

The writers are incapable of dialogue emanating the grace due to elves as seen with finrods brilliant rock ship metaphor. As for why they're so ugly, I think the showrunners just hate tolkien and it's Fandom, and they did it deliberately just to pass people off.

Enough people are talking about it. The whole cast looks like they'd be more suited to play hobbits with their little English faces. You can forgive them to fail to find enough models to be their extras, but the haircuts don't help. And the fact that the Noldor aren't given their black hair makes them feel like they're not a distinct people. Unacceptable for Elrond and Celebrimbor.

They were, but you envision them as statuesque, symmetrical and fully developed humanoids. A legendary Elven smith is a physically powerful figure. The dude who forged the Silmarils could take on a group of balrogs. But for some reason his grandson looks like a Hogwarts professor in this show.
