nope

tolkien is 98% norse and finnish mythology

he was a hack and a fraud

Tolkien didn't invest anything. He stole it all wholesale from Norse/Germanic mythology. Elves, dwarves, power rings and all.

Germcucks SEETHING

>finnish

yes

tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Kalevala

Yeah he invented elves and to a lesser extent dwarves
They were very different before he wrote the Hobbit and LOTR

Never touch anything fantasy related made by Anglos.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Der_Ring_des_Nibelungen
>The plot revolves around a magic ring that grants the power to rule the world, forged by the Nibelung dwarf Alberich from gold he stole from the Rhine maidens in the river Rhine. With the assistance of the god Loge, Wotan – the chief of the gods – steals the ring from Alberich, but is forced to hand it over to the giants Fafner and Fasolt in payment for building the home of the gods, Valhalla, or they will take Freia, who provides the gods with the golden apples that keep them young. Wotan's schemes to regain the ring, spanning generations, drive much of the action in the story. His grandson, the mortal Siegfried, wins the ring by slaying Fafner (who slew Fasolt for the ring) – as Wotan intended – but is eventually betrayed and slain as a result of the intrigues of Alberich's son Hagen, who wants the ring for himself. Finally, the Valkyrie Brünnhilde – Siegfried's lover and Wotan's daughter who lost her immortality for defying her father in an attempt to save Siegfried's father Sigmund – returns the ring to the Rhine maidens as she commits suicide on Siegfried's funeral pyre. Hagen is drowned as he attempts to recover the ring. In the process, the gods and Valhalla are destroyed.

BRAVO TOLKIEN

What? So you need to be a writer to determine a writer is shit? Does that mean Any Forums needs to all be directors or we cant call the GoT finale shit? Holy shit you are a faggot. Go back to red dit.

'elves' were however originally pixies, like in 1998 Merlin with Sam Neill

White men invented pretty much everything we take for granted.

>lol he took inspiration from something that really existed lmao
>he's not even literally God and making things up from nothing

Elves and dwarves are from Norse mythology but Tolkien made them more famous

did they finish them?

>Schizo retarded finn so btfo about a famous Anglo-saxon work he posts lies about it being ripped off wagner

Die, tranny

kys you mongloid cunt stop appropriating English culture

It's true that the children of Hurin story is largely based on stories from the Kalevala.

Yes Tolkien knew and incorporated elements from older works. All writers do. You are asking the impossible,
>has a ring in it
Oh no literal plagiarism lol

>Numenor is Atlantis
>Gondor is Constantinople
>”Middle Earth” is literally Mediterranean in retard speak
>Valar are just Olympians through a Christian prism
>villains are literally called Easternlings
>the whole book is about how a Norf Kang wuz achktualhy the one to save Constantino-I mean Gondor from the Musl- I mean Easternlings
Why is this hack praised as a creative genius?

that may be, however before Tolkien brought them into the light and cemented them as tall humanoids elves of the European folklore were a race of fairies, specifially hailing from Cornwall in England

Still ongoing I think. So somewhere between soon and never.

As far as common fantasy dwarves and elves go, he might as well have. Most fantasy interpretations of them are derived from Tolkien, or from something that was.

>WE WUZ ELVES N SHIET

lmfao

ecclesiastes 1:9

Elves are from Alfheim in Norse mythology

Turns out the Viking age was the last time anyone was truly creative.

the amount of finnish inspiration in LotR is less than 1%
He removed all the finnish words from Quenya there are in fact no real words in besides Anglo-saxon ones.
There is also no finnish connection in LotR.
There was a small bit of finnish influence in one part of the Silmarillion for one character published by his son not him.

not published by Tolkien. and no one character has one plot device that is also inspired by ancient greek. You are lying like a typical finn.

that's nothing like the Lord of the Rings unless you're equating the title name and the stories

It's mostly just the bible with a few names changed around. The norse stuff is just added for flavor

Stop lying you retarded finn, you are like the irish of the baltic.

TWILIGHT. OF THE. THUNDER GOD. EIIIIIIIIINGNGNNGNFNFNGNFNFNFNFN

tolkien confirmed finno-ugric chad

the ring actually comes from ancient greek
Volsunga is another inspiration.
Middle earth is the old Anglosaxon/germanic for the "world" you dumb wog.

No, but he turned them from little frivolous gnomish creatures into beings of dignity and stature on par with, or even greater than, humans. Before that it was more like pic related.

So yeah he invented them in our modern high fantasy sense, but they had precedent in European mythology. I believe he said his more noble elves / dwarves were a restoration of the earliest mythologies. He also popularised the spellings elves/dwarves, rather than elfs/dwarfs which were common til then.
>”Middle Earth” is literally Mediterranean in retard speak
No, middle-earth is an anglicisation of the Norse concept of midgard, the middle plane of existence which compromises our world half way up the World Tree, Ygdrassil. Tolkien's cosmology is horizontal rather than vertical though. You don't move to Valhalla by going up the World Tree, but by sailing West to Valinor. Tolkien's World/Arda shouldn't be looked at as mere separate continents. Middle-earth / midgard is our plane of existence, and Valinor on the western continent is a higher plane of existence where the gods and immortals dwell.

>The Finnish mythology, as presented in the Kalevala, had a profound impact on the young J.R.R. Tolkien, and became an inspiration for the creation of his Legendarium. In an early letter to Edith Bratt, Tolkien mentions that he is doing a reworking of one of the stories from the Kalevala (resulting in the manuscript "The Story of Kullervo").[1] In 1955, writing to his friend W.H. Auden, he says that "the beginning of the legendarium [...] was in an attempt to reorganize some of the Kalevala, especially the tale of Kullervo the hapless, into a form of my own".[2]
Seethe more Angloid. You have no national epos of your own (Beowulf is not even set in Angloland). Ha ha you fool!!!

>however before Tolkien brought them into the light and cemented them as tall humanoids elves of the European folklore were a race of fairies, specifially hailing from Cornwall in England
To English people. Tolkiens elves are taken from the Norse alfr.

if you bother to read the article it says virtually nothing about how it is relevant to LotR
Its just talentless finns trying to appropriate the work.

>claiming Tolkien didn’t get inspired by Finland
>fin(n)we
>fin(n)golfin
>fin(n)arfin

ISHYGDDT

yes, thats what im saying
elves in Merlin before JRRT were fairies also

kek this is what its all about. Finns seething because the English have more famous works.
and the Kalevala was made up by a finnish priest.

LotR is an English work so is Beowulf. You are no fan of Tolkien
>angloid
