Early Malick is nice, but his post-hiatus stuff all seems like screensaver-core, never really bothered investing my time. The thing I loved about the two mentioned was that up until the ending they actually gave a comprehensible narrative and didn't constantly do masturbatory visuals for minutes at a time.

Not in the same vein as THtJB, I mostly mean the spinning camera and how it feels in contrast to the rest of the movie, it's intense yet devoid of the anxiousness the rest of the film is drenched in.
