Top Gun: Maverick is #1 at the box office in it's 15th weekend, the last time this was ever achieved was with Titanic.
What went so fucking right with this movie I don't get it? I saw it once and thought it was good but apparently many people saw it 5-10 times over the course of the summer. It's still in over 3,000 theaters in North America. I don't get what is so fucking great about this film.

I would compare this movie to Avatar. The story isn't particularly great but it's a fun visual spectacle.

It's not that it's so good, it's just that for the last 10 years everything has sucked so bad that anything that feels like it's from the era of 80s-90s feels priceless. That era was just so many levels better than current era.

I mean it was literally the only "real" movie that's been released in like half a year? Everything else is either some "Netflix original" or a Covid movie with 2 people or a movie for blacks. Just look at the first 5 pages of fmovies.
I didn't even watch it in theatres and I loved it. It was just stupid fun well made kino. Made me feel good after I finished it. Must have been a nice expereince for people that watched it at the cinema.
