>Why does he make this face
He's a narcissist trying to become a celebrity director instead of just doing his fucking job

there is no need for 5 thor movies

Because he cannot be genuine. He doesn't have it in him.

he's trying really hard to be a name

hope his gay rock avatar died on his way to homeplanet

>Cohen

He's trying to be "le wacky relatable "i'm one of you!"" directors, which is a shame, because his earlier works are pretty fucking good.

This made between 400-500 million after the theater cuts (420 million if we assume Disney got the typical 75% domestic and 40% international).

If we assume that the typical 50% of the production budget is the advertising holds true in this case (although good chance it’s higher for a big Disney movie like this), best case scenario Disney made 45 million dollars off of a 375 million dollar investment. After taxes, did Disney even make 30 million dollars? I mean at best that’s probably what they made, that’s 8% return on their investment, with a big budget marvel movie like that they should have gotten 2-3x that. What a flop.

How many Thor flicks are they going to make?

>is the son of Robin (Cohen), a teacher, and Taika Waititi, an artist and farmer.
what the fuck

This is what ego does to you, stay hungry, stay humble and always true to yourself.

Does he still have star wars? Disney must be having second thoughts after thor gigaflopped

link to the article?

That’s probably up to Lucas film and Kathleen Kennedy, who have shown that they don’t give a fuck about Star Wars and just want diversity hires, pozzed agendas, and yes men, so I’m sure he’s still in.

>Thor planned as a trilogy, same as Iron Man and Captain America
>Second film disappoints critically and commercially
>hire meme director to make the 3rd film completely differently and to rip off GotG
>3rd film does great
>decide that they want a 4th film since they no longer have Iron Man or Captain America, and can't make a 3rd GotG for a few years because they stupidly fired the director and then rehired him
>meme director makes 4th film that's pretty much identical to the 3rd film
>arbitrarily flops critically and commercially
>rather than deciding that maybe 4 films was too many, decide they just need a new director for the 5th film
Great strategy here. Out of curiosity, has Zhao officially been fired yet from making another Eternals?

If they hadn't fucked up the continuity and wasted Hemsworth's prime there would have been. The Walt Simonson era alone had enough kino for half a dozen movies easily but instead they killed off Odin, Volstagg, Fandral and Hogun, let Sif walk, never bothered introducing Baldur or Beta Ray Bill at all and then blew up Asgard. They wasted so much potential and there's not that much left to work with now

Hope they take the incal from that nigga, too

nobody likes the magical shit in the mcu they like iron man level tech from 1 to avengers and that's it

If you're wondering how a film that made 750 million at the box office underperformed here's a little education.
investopedia.com/articles/investing/093015/how-exactly-do-movies-make-money.asp
In general, a film that only makes 3x it's production budget is not considered a success. a film's total cost is broken into four parts:
production, development, marketing, and advertising.
We'll never know just how much money disney spent on Thor. it was a helluva lot more 250 million though.
Domestically (the U.S.) films generally get 60% of the box office. Overseas they get significantly less. 20-40% depending on the country.
Hopefully you can see just how little money actually makes it back to the studio. And this before we factor in taxation.
All this is why, in general, a big budget film has to make at least a billion dollars to be successful. Thor is currently 250 million short of that mark and it's never going to reach it as the film in being pulled from venues in preparation for the fall movie season.

This faggot is a perfect example of someone with some level of talent, becoming trapped in his own delusional little bubble by faggots tripping over themselves to be 'not racist' and praise everything he does beyond any actual merit. Instead of being challenged like a normal person and being allowed to prove himself, rise and fall to the limit of his actual ability, he gets his arse licked and Affirmative Action hired, all the while developing a serious case of Unwarranted Self-Importance. Now he's just part of the smug faggot brigade who thinks everyone outside his bubble is a hater/racist/ultra-MAGA Nazi or whatever, and that his shit doesn't stink.

That's why you want actual equality where everyone deserves zero respect they didn't actually earn on merit - and even then they shouldn't be insulated from criticism. The 'woke' culture is actually manufacturing faggots like this from people who were probably actually half-decent to start with.

>why doesn’t he actually read the source material and lore?
I think it's pretty evident he read a couple volumes of Esad Ribic and Jason Aaron's Thor: God of Thunder and basically used all the storyboards and ideas from that (questioning of godhood, loss of Mjolnir, etc) in Ragnarok. I might even give him the benefit of the doubt and say he read some older Simonson/Buscema and probably watched some clips from the World War Hulk animated movie.
Then when they asked him what he wanted to do next and he said Gorr, he realized that he did everything from all the comics he read other than Jane Thor. I haven't seen the new movie yet, but I'm assuming he kind of gave up, maybe threw some random concepts out there that he wasn't outright familiar with- and then probably doubled down and made fun of it.

Ngl though, Thor is one of my favorite characters and he's a pretty tough read. He hardly ever returns back to any discernible status quo. You can stop following the character or skip a writer's arc and you're left wondering how Loki went from being a woman, back to a man, to a little kid to a young adult, who the fuck are the All-Mothers, why is Thor missing an arm, is that an axe, who is that horse, etc.

I read an entire article about this faggot in Worked magazine which is like pure söy in word form but so is this guy. He just exudes söy and he's also a Jew and it shows. I've met Jews who weren't Jewish but once I learned he was only half maori it made sense.

Thor Ragnarok was okay for a marvel movie but I don't give a fuck about any of the res tod his films. They just don't add anything to my life or say anything interesting and they all sound preachy. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm an adult with a full-time job so I don't really have time to watch movies anyway.

Who?
>Why does he make this face
It would be extremely painful
Not enough

How will Waititi execute the infamous Inventing room scene?

>box office disappointment
Didn't it make like 600 million bucks?

That's a disappointment lol. The 3rd one made over a billion.
