Why does Hollywood constantly fuck this up? The story would be easy as shit to adapt to the screen.

Jew agenda
They aren't confident enough in the name to dedicate talented writers to plot out the episodes, and instead go for the easy option of taking the monsters and throwing them at the protagonists and making it 100% about the action of fighting them off
video game nerds deserve to get dabbed on
The scenario of Resident Evil is not very good and serves only as a pretext for a survival-horror type video game. Even a faithful adaptation of the original material would probably be crap.
The story isn't that great, but there's been so many attempts and it seems like someone just fucks up bad with casting and/or writing. The Netflix Resident Evil was the worst thing that's ever came out of the franchise.
It's a classic conspiracy thriller story. A show wouldn't look exactly like the game but the ingredients are there to make a good movie or mini-series out of it.
they hate videogames and always try to be little faithful as possible
There's very little respect for video games in Hollywood, even today people are mocked for saying video games can be art. So instead we get Hollywood trying to "improve" it but fuck it up completely since they dismiss the one demographic that wants it.
how can someone be so wrong?? di yoy get paid?
I don't know why it's like that, there's a lot of games that have stories that would work great and easily adapted. Resident Evil is one of them, while not being your run of the mill zombie story. There's actually a lot there, just not written the best and that's kind of where the charm is with the campyness, body horror, and sci-fi.
>Video Games can't be art
It'll start a shit storm I'm sure, but I don't see how they're not.
The original six Resident Evil films were non-Hollywood, and that's why they were kino.
All six of them were Hollywood.
Exactly. But the thing about Hollywood is that it's still majority run by boomers and they're afraid to take risks, which is why people have been complaining for years about every movie just being rehashed shit and remakes. So to them, video games are still just some childish shit that adults won't care about.
The final movie was pure shit though. Retribution had a cool ending that set things up for a great follow up but then for The Final Chapter, everyone just got off screen deaths in-between the movies and the plot made no sense.
>Hollywood
Did you see the last couple of animated RE works? It's a retarded franchise to begin with that's only good for video game shlock.
You're out of your mind. Vendetta was beyond kino.
No, they were German/British productions. Sony paid for them (paid for the sequels at least), but nobody calls Squid Game a Hollywood production just because Netflix funded it.
Similarly, the Silent Hill film was French, and produced by Davis Films, the French company that co-produced some of the RE films.
>The original six Resident Evil films were non-Hollywood
Don't be a dumbass in my thread please.
The Final Chapter had production issues, and I don't think anyone involved was really happy with it, but it's still a spectacular ride. It's basically the Alien 3 of Resident Evil films, and was even supposed to end with Alice dying originally.
I feel that RE has a strong enough fan base that there will be profit from making one that's using the original story, or even having one based off one of the games in the series.
Because they hire writers who are the daughters of the friends of corporate executives who hate nerd shit but who desperately want to be "in the creative industries" and who take one look at your comfy straightforward zombie invasion and evil corporation story and think "I could do better".
Constantin Film is not a Hollywood production company. None of the films were shot in the US. The first movie is shot almost entirely in Germany, for crying out loud. Extinction was an Australian director shooting in Mexico while trying to make it look like Australia pretending to be Las Vegas.
There are movies made outside the American studio system, you know.
Ego makes them always want to do things different and outdo the games
The CG films did horribly when Sony tried releasing them in Japanese theatres. Audiences are interested in Resident Evil films if they have Milla Jovovich in them, but nobody wants a movie about Leon Kennedy or whatever. That's a factor in why the 2021 movie bombed at the BO.
It's never been better, even Welcome to Racoon City was a pile of shit because someone wanted to do something different with it. Then it flopping fucking hard.
I've thought it was a Hollywood production for years. Actually learned something here for once.
its jealousy
this desu
Sony's backing meant that the films got advertising and global theatrical releases. Without Sony RE would have been like Christophe Gans's Crying Freeman adaptation that never released outside Europe and is largely unknown.
I feel like everything to do with Umbrella is too retarded to even use as a story, and only works in game as notes that you can just ignore while enjoying the surface level of exploring spooky locations. You could probably get away with the idea of "corporation accidentally creates zombies", but that alone isn't enough to be RE and the moment you go further it becomes too stupid to handle.
bruh its a classic haunted mansion story but with soldiers and with undead being revealed as bio weapon and not vodoo magic. It would be super easy to adapt as a entertaining 1,5 hour horror movie with action. Paul Anderson almost did it with his first movie but went full OC too much
