Why would a droid designed for war be programmed to say "uh"?

Droids developed personality traits and quirks the longer they went without memory wipes.

Because they were mass produced with slow processors and the uh sound is them computing an unexpected turn of events

wow they're just like me

the same reason humans do either to give a verbal cue that it has understood and is thinking or processing a response or to indicate that what you just said was fucking retarded but it wants to soften the blow and not just straight out tell you that you are retarded. like this:
why do droids say 'uh'?
uh...for the same reason humans do?

The same reason your phone assistant and smart fridge do

Thank you. Even my 9 year old ass knew star wars was over the exact moment battle droids starting acting goofy.

based and logicpilled

Because humans (or human aliens) inevitably want AI to be more human for the purposes of smoothing communication.

The true explanation is a bit more complex and requires a great amount of knowledge of in-depth lore, but basically Star Wars is a franchise for kids, and kids love goofy henchmen characters

Because the people in the Star Wars universe are hilariously stupid bunglers and they unwittingly created sentient beings to send to war and kill and they’re too stupid to notice they’re alive

Why would a machine designed for office use start screeching at you whenever it encounters an error?

>uh
George Lucas

Why would a droid need a humanoid form?

The designers gave them some personality to make them more likeable.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Explain JarJar Binks then

As someone who was a huge fan of star wars when I was a kid
But have seen a ton of shit now and even some of the source material that inspired that shit

Coming back to Star Wars I’ve become convinced that certain aspects of their technology are partly a well functioning cargo cult, “40k introduced this concept to the widest audience”
They know how to repair and create new items of their tech or modified and make iterations as a craft
And as a craft they are very good with their tech “better than us even”
but most people in the galaxy don’t understand the full science behind how everything works

Droids in the star wars galaxy seem to have all the hallmarks of sentient beings and can even display limited sapience
And I think Droid tech is probably one of those miracle pieces of technology that the galaxy has learned how to consistently reproduce without fully understanding from civilisations they had long since forgotten

Because they're designed for corporate security, not planetary invasions. Personality is user-friendly, then they degrade from there. The Trade Federation is too cheap to format their hard-drives every few months to stop this happening.
