6.2/10. Not a disaster. But a big disappointment for a BILLION dollar production. Problems are mostly in casting and dialog so far. I'll watch a few more episodes though

Poorly scripted, acted, shot and edited. 6 B stories going on at once with no definitive main narrative, only the vague "evil is coming". Major changes to lore for the worse. Heavy handed metaphor inserted where it's not needed. Completely unnecessary involvement of Hobbits in a story that doesn't need them except for normie bait.

It's a bad-faith adaptation with direction, production value, pacing, casting, and dialogue so awful that it wouldn't have saved even a good-faith adaptation.
Easily one of the worst shows ever shit on a screen, exacerbated by the fact that it cost a billion dollars to make.
