There was a huge sum of money to be made selling it to TMZ or whoever. Remember that the infamous Michael Richards meltdown happened just a few months later. I'd spend a few years in jail for that kind of pay day. Also, death by stingray is exceedingly uncommon. I have a hard time believing that a guy who fucked with animals for a living would die by an animal that virtually no one has ever been killed by.
