why did he fail to become a big movie star when House MD was such a massive success and he was clearly talented enough to make it work?

is this bait or zoomer

it's a genuine question

he's TV tier, not got enough charisma to be a big hitter.

stuart little

pretty sure he got fed up with his fame after house

he's no Pibbledick Thundersnatch

He took a 3 year break from acting after finishing House, and so any popularity he had was basically gone by the time he came back.

Name a single lead actor from an acclaimed/popular show in the 00s and 10s that became a movie star? The closest is Idris Elba but he’s a b lister at best

Imagine if they hadn't put a wig on him. Nobody would respect this guy

Biggleswick Cucumberslap

What about Cranston? I mean you can't deny The Cranztonite

>Hugh Laurie
>not got enough charisma to be a big hitter.
lol
lmao even
House is one of the best actor performances in the last 20 years period

Aside form his sabbatical after House ended, Laurie is also a bit of snob when it comes to choosing material. Which is a good thing.

Jon Hamm is doing pretty well, although you'll probably never see him in something as great as Mad Men

>House recruits team members old and new to desperately discover a cure for aging before time runs out.
>in cinemas this fall.

>too soi to be an action hero or capeshitter
>too old and ugly to be a ladies man
>not funny enough to be a comedic lead
he's limited OP, wake up and smell the tea.

Tv stars are type cast as the one role they had. They'll always be Jerry or Kramer or George or those friend guys. House goes back to his retarded British squeaky voice and it's jarring and people hate it. They only want his gravelly sarcastic persona and can't accept if he deviates. Most actors play the same role every movie if you really break it down. Tv stars just have hundreds of appearances vs few movies once every couple years for actors.

You can debate how popular Mr. Robot was, but Rami is getting there.

Lol nice one jon

Why would anyone want to be a movie star when Television surpassed Cinema ages ago

Benedict Cumberbatch stole all his roles, Hugh must be SEETHING

Top Gun
Baby Driver

>squeaky voice
Lol wut, he pitches his voice up for house.

He doesn't have the look for a leading man. It's the very particular look that he has, it restricts his capacity for variety. He's like a theater guy best used in TV shows, he wouldn't work out in a movie. Just look at that Night Manager show, he was completely unremarkable there. Very one note guy but he hits that note well.

Pretty sure he just does what he wants, a few passion projects here and there. He made so much money from house that he didn't need a big career in hollywood blockbusters.

this is what he means

could be fun movie.
