Impossible. You learn patterns and memorize openings and certain end game scenarios, but the middle game is way too complex to rely solely on memory. Not even computers have solved chess yet.

stop hanging pieces, double check your move before you actually play it, play longer games so you can think about your moves, be familiar with basic tactics (skewers, pins, forks, etc). puzzle streak on lichess is great daily practice

i tend to stick to openings im familiar with. i dont think ive ever initiated a game as white with D4 for example
