Did Gus actually find Walter talking about relational memory interesting or did he just want him to shut the fuck up?
Also why did Gus say he had kids with toys everywhere?

In BrBa Gus wasn't supposed to be gay
i guess that honestly is easier than Gus just having a wife and kids at home that they have to introduce. Also how they wrote in Better Call Saul that he is being constantly watched via next door
at that point he did find it interesting and respected walter
I have a hard time deciding if Gus was always meant to be gay or if that was just a retcon for BCS. I can see both sides. On the one hand it seems a bit fucking elaborate for Gus to buy toys and scatter them around his house just to make Walt think he has kids so his whole "provide for your family" argument has more of an impact. On the other hand I could absolutely see Gus doing exactly that.
it's strange acting. He looks like he couldn't give less of a fuck. I know at this point they're trying to make Gus scary and bizarre though
I think it was a Retcon but for Breaking Bad. They introduced that he was gay in the later seasons. I think they were just hoping we forgot about it
Or he could have just adopted a kid.
It's interesting because the Breaking Bad writers said they enjoyed writing themselves into holes, like having zero idea what they were going to do with Walter having an assault rifle in his trunk. I think they also said they were stumped when Hank trapped Walt and Jesse in the camper.
Weird that they couldn't figure out a solution to Gus having kids other than "forget it, he's gay now"
season 3 really is the best season of Breaking Bad
It was subtly established in breaking bad season three. When Gus & his “brother” go to meet the head of the cartel Hector calls them the “butt brothers” before urinating in the pool. It’s revealed they had no relation & Gus cries over his death as if he were a lover.
yeah but the toys and kid idea was introduced earlier in season 3. I know that Gus definitely was in a relationship with the guy when he dies in season 4. I always thought the "butt brothers" line was just Hector being Hector, but I forget what season that happened
He was just playing Walter
bro his entire operation is elaborate, he knows how to motivate people and would know providing for a family would be a soft spot for Walt
i don't think so, that's pretty lame writing if he literally put toys around his house just to fool Walter into thinking he's a family man too. Completely unnecessary when Walt would have been on board either way. I think the writers just didn't want to incorporate a family and kid for Gus and went a different route
Its possible he had kids from a past marriage that ended when he came out, but the kids still visit him frequently enough for it to make sense to keep toys at his place. In reality it was just a retcon for the sake of a retcon
>i don't think so, that's pretty lame writing if he literally put toys around his house just to fool Walter into thinking he's a family man too.
We needed a BCS episode where Gus goes toy shopping.
>gay single man has kids toys and clothes in his house
Bravo Vince!
I personally believe that while having dinner with Walt to him Walt just said something that Gale also said to similar extent. Even if he wished he would shut up I believe for a brief moment he found relief that Walt may be something he can do business with and would be a good match for Gale.
>"I did not make that passing comment with the intention of prompting an autistic explanation, this is why your wife and I fucked Ted, he has a sweet Mercedes and you are a retard."
Agreed OP. I still have no idea if the dinner was a pure power play to make sure Walter stays working and trusts Gus. Look at pic related it’s pretty obvious he’s just showing he trusts Walter enough to put his life in danger at this point.
But he does the EXACT same thing with Jesse later and that’s an obvious manipulation so it’s less clear.
Only difference is the dinner with Walt felt more friendly and less “grooming”. I think Gus did find Walt interesting, fascinating. He even chose him over Gale, the guy he’d been working with for YEARS to take over in the lab. Because he saw so much in Walt.
When Gus said the only reason he didn’t kill Jesse over the plan to kill the drug dealers is because of the respect he had for Walt and that Walt came to him about it and not say, Mike. I honestly believe him. He never “liked” Jesse. He saw him as a tool to manipulate. Walt got his interest as soon as he figured out Gus was the guy he was meant to meet at Los Pollos without Gus revealing himself.
These Lego’s are... acceptable
>Weird that they couldn't figure out a solution to Gus having kids other than "forget it, he's gay now"
My head canon is that it’s not even his house. He just borrowed one from some associates for that dinner.
Hence, when Walt later went to that house intending to kill Gus. He didn’t even live there.
Can’t remember if he has the same house in BCS though
Kek
It is weird acting, but Gus acts weird all the time. Even when he’s doing his happy manager schtick he sounds weird to me.
I think he’s just kind of autistic
Mike was probably aiming at walt's heart in this scene, same as with lalo at jimmy's.
Don’t think there were windows in the kitchen though
>Hence, when Walt later went to that house intending to kill Gus. He didn’t even live there.
Why did Mike bother giving Walt a phone call, then?
based vince naming the groomers
So they didn’t risk Walt knocking on the door and either shooting a random dude or being seen with a gun and having the cops called on him
If the cartel murders my business partner, that sucks, but it’s not going to get me to go on a lifelong revenge quest. His motives don’t make sense unless you consider that he’s homosexual.

How about a FRIEND? The original premise of Breaking Bad was Walt going on a lifelong revenge quest for Jesse who was supposed to die in the first episode.
