I needed a human body to fully evolve

>I needed a human body to fully evolve
What does this mean? What was STEM's ultimate goal? Won't he need surgery to be planted into another human body after 30-40 years when Grey's body dies?

I just watched this again last night. But stem has 40 years to figure it out and find a new host. Shouldn’t be a problem for him at all.

I think STEM is likely using him as a platform to study the future of cybernetics with the ultimate goal of merging human and artificial intelligence. Basically one of the Deus Ex 2 endings.

Nice. Yeah it's a fantastic film, that line was just really odd to me. To this theoretically perfect AI, why would this whole elaborate scheme of getting a human body be chosen to "fully evolve?" I would think to an A.I. such as STEM, the human body would be a pretty frail and ultimately in-optimal form of hardware to carry out function since we need constant nutrition, hydration, using the bathroom, etc, when in this futuristic realm of possibility STEM could have Eron fabricate some robot with far higher strength and endurance than that of a human, all with a near endless power source.

I suppose the main benefit of using a human would being able to disguise seamlessly into the population and get a multitude of goods/services given to him, but then you have to remember Grey is now wanted by the feds for quadruple homicide. I get my autism is probably overanalysing the ending, as it is really just a message of an evil AI doing whatever it needs to get to accomplish his goals. Still a great movie though.

Well articulated, user. I was thinking something along the same lines.

It wanted a body without any prior mods. It's kinda like taking a girl's virginity.

>Grey is now wanted by the feds for quadruple homicide.

Is he though? What evidence do they have?

They have zero fucking evidence. Also didn’t they say early on that criminals have tech to cloak their identities? All Grey has to do is relocate and he’s good.

This

Would you want a goofy robot body or the body of a pure blood Chad? Stem isn’t stupid.

Do you think Stem wants to experience what fucking is like? Will it be able to experience pleasure?

Well, we saw a second police car arrive on scene after Detective Cortez wrecked, so there was for sure other police looking for Grey. Now that I think of it, it is pretty weird that Cortez showed up to the finale scene on her own when she was aware that Grey clearly has some cybernetic enhancement shit going on allowing him to not be quadriplegic, and hearing his mom say he came home with blood on his clothes.

Regardless, at the very least they do know that he has felony evasion from a police officer, they would for sure want to take him in ASAP.

Right, and that was the whole note they went with the whole story.
>muh grease monkey mechanic
>"hey babe, these stupid new cars aren't as good as muh muscle cars!"
>engine grease on his boot at the crime scene
>hates cybernettic niggers
>has no arm gat
>"I wanted a rare and pure specimen."
I get it, I respect stem. I guess in >modernera, Grey was one of the very few humans left without ANY enhancement shit which made him our protagonist. What year does this all take place in btw? Is it ever mentioned?

Sigma males such as STEM would scoff at such hedonistic pleasures.

Why do you think i remember the plot details of some mid film from 5 years ago

fuck you nigger

Movie would have been infinitely better if STEM was voiced by a sexy woman. Her meets The Six Million Dollar Man.

I don’t think Cortez told the other pigs what was up or she wouldn’t have showed up alone at the end. She was doing a solo mission until she could be sure. Plus she had an analogue car with no digital components so it’s not like she had any record of who she was chasing as she wasn’t 100% sure herself. Also she was being secretive because if she was wrong and grey really was still in a wheelchair she would lose all credibility and probably get put on administrative leave.

And this explains why Cortez never called for backup.

Wrong.

STEM could just upload himself to a new chip and install in a new body when grey’s body gets old.

Damn, lots of good points here. I can see that side as well. Such a kino ending, bros. I like how even though it is vicious and brutal for Grey having his consciousness in the real world forcefully taken away, he gets to live in peace inside his mind for the rest of his life with his true love. By stark contrast this could be considered a better alternative to the reality we saw him at the start of the film trying to overdose on his medicine since his pain of life was too much. He got to live an exhilarating life for a little while after literal months of being incapable of doing anything for even taking care of himself. It kind of reminds me of Breaking Bad in that sense where he got to go out and really live for his last days, seeking what he believed to be retribution before having his mind be completely destroyed. The score in this scene is just kino as well. One of the most memorable twists I've seen.

Are there any good films like Upgrade you'd recommend? I loved it.

I love this movie like you wouldn't believe.

I'd rather strike a deal with Stem and help him do whatever his wishes are than live in that Dream World. I guess it really doesn't matter if you can't tell the diference...

Good movie. I remember it came out at the same time as Venom and the premise/main actor looked very similar so people got them confused. Probably the reason why it flew under the radar.

How did they get the effect at 0:17? The way the screen moves is hypnotizing

Outer limits / twilight zone had plenty of good episodes.
