Another what if to consider is if Robert or Stannis are born girls. Guaranteed a daughter of Steffon would be married to Rhaegar as such a daughter would have the blood Aerys was looking for. Unlike the frail Elia, female Robert or Stannis are (probably) going to have an easier time giving birth, Rhaegar gets his three heads of the dragon and the rebellion is avoided.
