Cell Max was actually a neat concept. A completely uncontrollable marauding science experiment gone wrong. Derivative, sure, but you can't really expect this ancient franchise to surprise you anymore.
Dragonball jumped the shark a long time ago, so it's easier if you just go with all the ridiculous shit it throws at you. At the very least, the character interactions were cute.
