Season 1 of this was pretty terrific because it leaned so hard into the "1930s detective story but in a constantly rainy nighttime neon city full of hologram prostitutes and cyborg assassins and stuff," very crowd pleasing. You could call it generic but there's almost nothing that actually checks off all of the stereotype boxes of the genre so thoroughly; our hero even has four separate white, black, asian and latina love interests (you'll never guess which one is his sister!)

Shame about season 2.

is it possible to only watch season 1 and enjoy it? Or do you have to wait to see the second season for any payoff?

this is an english post apocalyse mini series, meteor heading for earth, train crashes in a tunnel, passengers emerge world destroyed.

saw it at the time, well worth watching, aired in canada but not US, apparently not released on dvd

No, the second season is essentially an entire new show (now with a 90% black cast!)

good fucking movie
didnt bitch out with the ending i respect that

s2 isnt that bad, it only feels shit in contrast to S1

one of the perks of adapting a consciousness transfer scifi book is that you can switch out the cast if the need arises but for in-universe plot reasons and IRL reasons. but it still needs to feel like it's the same character inside both bodies which they didnt do very well in that one

it sucks that it got cancelled they could have made a good season 3 with a new cast

season 3 with Hunter Schafer would have been good

you mean adam sandler playing takeshi
