>main character is so evil and unforgivable and corrupt and loathsome and vile that the only conveivable way to end the show is to lock him up for 86 years, in the worst place possible, in a sterile black and white that never even lifts

But I don't accept this at all. James McGill isn't some sort of paedophile nazi cannibal rapist serial killer. This isn't natural or correct.

How is this any different to China changing the end of films so that the authorities win? I feel like a crazy person. Everyone seems to accept that this ending is "masterful" but I'd call it the worst possible ending

Vague motivations for extreme actions made seemingly on a whim isn't how an ending 14 years in the making needs to be. I can't suspend my disbelief that in a year or so Jimmy's senses won't return and he won't regret choosing a life sentence that he simply didn't need to take. He fought for and won his freedom while paying a real but appropriate legal price for it. And instead he threw it away for literally no reason. Literally no sensible reason

How am I supposed to just go "oh okay, show's over, Saul's in prison until he dies of old age, cool" when the only reason he's going to die of old age in prison is because he chose to at the last second, and he chose to for weak or even non-existent reasons

Does he really feel that guilty about a world without Hank Schrader's racist jokes and unprovoked acts of violence against the population of Albuquerque? At least innocent widow Marie has probably stopped shoplifting now

There's no morality or logic here other than the US government wins

Is it really down to some cartoon fairy tale bullshit about Jimmy exorcising Saul? Saul becoming Jimmy? And there's no better way that could be done than this?

He didn't sacrifice himself for anything identifiable. It isn't heroic it's suicide.

Jimmy rotting in prison forever won't bring back Howard or Chuck. He's just going to sit in prison for decades while Kim gets pounded by her new husband

I'm not reading this reddit copypasta.

I too think it was a mega shit ending bad writing no music and artless wank shitposting tier fanfic end concluding a 16yo kino streak
S6 was weak as fuck

We all agree on this

Well you're the sort of retard who can't even talk about things without mentioning the website reddit so I didn't want you in the thread anyway

Because Jimmy is making this decision as a particularly moral person. He’s not trying to stick to the standards of international enterprises and explorations, he’s not trying to let himself be a guy who constantly gets people ruined and killed just because some other guy might actually be murdering, he’s trying to do away with all his duplicitous nature and return again to one moral being. He’s not deflecting, he’s not bargaining, he’s not denying it, he’s not trying to weasel his way out. He is going for a transcendental reconciliation, not any more of this muddy conniving selfish shit that has fucked him up

Better Suck Chuck

Jimmy chose the life sentence because he finally accepted that he is incapable of changing his fundamental nature, just as Chuck believed. He knows (or believes) that if he took the 7 years and got out, he’d just start conning, commiting crimes and hurting everyone around him again. He deshells himself from the Saul Goodman persona when he asks the judge to refer to him by “James McGill” in the courtroom. When he’s on the bus / in prison and the inmates call him Saul, it’s a way of conveying that Jimmy’s past actions / impulses tower over any attempts he might make in the present to be decent. In my mind this also is another way the writers tried to communicate that Jimmy’s accepted that he can’t change his fundamental tendency to act out and commit crimes that impact everyone in his path.

The point about Jimmy locking himself away to save the world from his monstrous nature wouldn't fall so flat if Jimmy/Saul wasn't arguably the softest and most moral main character in the BB/BCS series

Did he even kill anyone across the series? He didn't even have a "Jane" moment.

I don't buy the

>Jimmy is so evil and broken that a 7.5 year jail sentence wouldn't be enough! He needs to be buried away in an underground facility for a thousand years! Only the phantom zone will do! 7.5 years is nothing for a beast like him!

idea anyway. 7.5 years in prison is still 7.5 years in prison. That's an entirely appropriate sentence for Jimmy/Saul's full list of crimes

He could easily have been spiritually healed or morally reformed fom that

He could have gone on to do good in the outside world after his jail term, like he did in the beginning. Like Kim immediately went back to doing. Fuck none of it makes sense

Even if he’s “the most moral main character” across BrBa and BCS, he still interfered with his own brother’s character + insurance to destroy his professional reputation which of course leads to his suicide. Not to forget he lashed out at his former boss to avoid confronting his own mental issues, by damaging his car with a bowling ball, paying hookers to publically confront him and make a scene, as well as consenting to help torpedo his reputation by flawlessly framing him as a drug addict.

He didn’t kill anyone, sure, but he’s dragged several people’s lives down a dirty, dirty trail.

He's scummy as fuck in BB, if anything they retconned him to be nicer in BCS.
He does everything he can to get Walt back into cooking meth when he wanted to quit and suggests murder or violence as an answer to almost every problem they have.

Jimmy and Kim are going to figure a way for him to get out legally.

You are BLIND and incapable of accepting one’s role in things. Beyond enabling empowering and keeping safe a murderer meth kingpin, he fucking drove Chuck to suicide

>he fucking drove Chuck to suicide
Chuck made him do it

BREAKING ROCKS IN THE HOT SUN

Yup, it’s stupid. Kim just volunteers but Jimmy gets to die in prison? Stupid writing. Shitty ending.

Kim becoming Jimmies lawyer pretty much grantees they figure out how to get him out

Yes the ending sucked, made no sense, and was probably insisted on by the US government. You're naive if you think hugely popular shows like this don't get their attention.

midwit

He is a white maleeeee

you're a halfwit

Rewatch the whole series and tell me he didn’t deserved prison.

Hold up. So Vince and Peter are telling me, that if my 90 year grandma in bumfuck nowhere hit the button on her life alert and told the operator that a notorious wanted criminal just so happened to be in her house, when that operator called the police to forward that information they’d believe the old jag and the entire police force would be mobilized, helicopters would be sent out, and FBI agents would come in mass and search the town for this notorious missing criminal that they’ve probably received hundreds, if not thousands, false reports on? Something tells me that doesn’t seem right and they’d send one squad car to the house because they’d think the old bitch would be senile. Vince is a fucking hack, he cannot write good endings.

Have people finally realized that this is all overhyped poorly written garbage?
Congratulations, I knew this back in 2008. Glad you finally caught up.

>I was a goy pretending to be one of g^d’s chosen, and for this my punishment should be the most severe
Wow woah

Wow, so you're the user that called it? Wow.
