It would done better, and that's not even debatable. The kiss got it banned in a lot of international markets that it would have otherwise opened in. While Disney took it as a badge of honour, it cost them money.

Watched it with my girlfriend because it was the only thing in our local theater that looked decent. It was actually pretty solid until they turned it into a mediocre kid's movie. The idea of rapidly skipping through the years as the generations elapse due to general relativity taking its toll on Buzz was interesting, and I would have liked a movie where they explored a shift in generational values under the protagonist's feet. It's a good concept for a real movie, I think.

Yeah, I don't think this is specifically due to gay kiss, although it didn't add any viewers. Toy Story is just old as shit. It's a dead IP. Should have ended with 3, which everyone was happy with. When they made a 4 that didn't need to exist, and then made it suck on top of that, I think it just killed the small amount of enthusiasm left. Toy Story was something 30-year olds today grew up with, and there just isn't the market anymore. The manchildren still on Disney Plus are in it for Star Wars and Marvel. The Pixar side needs to constantly be re-geared for kids, the adult interest is waning.
