I thought I liked it when it came out and I was 16, but even then part of me was convincing myself, and the rest of me was just enjoying the novelty of seeing James in a legit movie.

It’s aggressively mediocre, and would have been forgivable if it wasn’t for James aggrandizing his character. Particularly as James maintained an image of humility to that point, the whole thing felt weird and poisoned the rest of his work retrospectively.
