The current shilling for this show is the exact same as we've seen for Wheel of Time, and that turned out to be hilariously bad despite all the ads and critics pre-emptively loving it.
The writers for Rings of Power are some literally whos recommended by J.J. Abrams, and their only writing credit is nu Star Trek which is certainly NOT encouraging.
A lot of what the showrunners and actors have said so far indicates they don't really care about being true to the material, but rather care about "adapting" it to "rebalance" something - draw your own conclusions about their agenda from that.
The little "notes" Jeff Bezos allegedly made for the writers show a hilarious lack of understanding of how the writing process works.
A lot of the actors seem ill-suited to play their roles.
