>all the gold in california
>is in a bank in the middle of beverly hills
All the gold in california
gotta put it somewhere
man farrell was kino in that season
carried the entire fucking season on his back
his character isn't even that interesting, but he makes it interesting
between that and his performance in the batman, my opinion of him skyrocketed
I liked S2. I think it was written well, the music was great, the stakes were high. What I don't like is how it abandoned the Lovecraft story of S1 to become just a regular detective show. They should've done modern city Lovecraft in S2, it would be great.

my favorite scene
>his character isn't even that interesting
Him beating the dad while holding the son, don't you run away he is doing it for you, this is how it feels like is the most memorable scene of the show.
Okay now imagine that scene with the gay cop actor as Ray
doesn't hit as hard now does it
Imagine being so fucking dumb you misunderstand a show that tells you what its about with the title. Its an anthology, about detectives, not about "lovecraft". 2 > 1
the weird tales magazines that true detective ultimately derives from has heavy elements of supernatural (that USUALLY turn out to be false or red herring)
Granted season 2 did have some cult shit with Bezzerides father aswell but definitely not as much as season 1 or 3, which were much more faithful to the old pulpy novels and magazines its based on
infact its funny how Rust looks like an exact copy of 1930s weird tales detectives pic rel
>pseud post to justify his incorrect reading of the show
Lol. This has nlthing to do with pulp detective novels or shows. None of which you are familiar with because this is not a common theme in them
oh yeah there was the gold too, fuck Season 2 had too many plot points for its own good
Uhh yeah thats why the title is literally derived from
en.wikipedia.org
Im sure the recurring themes such as cults, supernatural elements are just coincidences and has nothing to do at all from where it derives its title lol
S1 is literally a true Lovecraftian story. Lovecraft is not tentacles lmao I am insane Niggerman save me, it's that relentless cosmic grind of the soul into a powder. When one of the thugs says to Rust "I will tell you about the Yellow King" Rust shits his pants, and he would probably kill the goon right there if other cops didn't stop him. This is Hastur, the King in Yellow, who is worshipped by the cult, inflitrated into the higher positions of power.
.... Its not. Its taken from the genre true crime, and then it lets you know the focus is on the character study not the crime. This is embarrassing. And to repeat myself, you are not familiar with any of these writings because no the true detective pulp series deals with none of the shit you are trying to force lol. A quote from the page you are desperately trying to make relevant
>In the 1930s, Macfadden realized the popularity of the non-fiction pieces and gradually phased out fiction
The thing you are trying to prove your hairbrained retardation with used non fiction only for the vast majority of its life. And before that it was just straight mystery not supernatural shit.
S1 is literally about two cops and how a case effects their character over the years. The focus is on the detectives (as the name suggests) not the crime.
Sometimes I wonder if anons like the one you responded to are bots, or if their posts are merely pretending to be retarded to bump the thread with replies. He says you are not familiar with and then his post couldn't demonstrate more clearly that he isn't familiar with the material. Why. This is just a fucking tv show, why would anyone try to be on a high horse for this meaningless shit.
If you were right, none of The King in Yellow shit would be in there at all. Checkmate, faggot.
That has nothing to do with anything I've said.
I am right and the king in yellow is not from pulp novels. The king in yellow predates these novels you are talking about by almost half a century. Stop trying
It does. No surprise you are too stupid to follow this shit
whoa...almost like that was the point of the series........
retard
>it is Lovecraft story
>no it isn't
>here is the Lovecraftian example
>okay yes it has Lovecraftian thing but you see this thing predates some pulp novels
its a dog eat dog world ray and im the fucking chinaman
Its clearly deriving a lot of elements from lovecraftian/supernatural horror detective thrillers, but ultimately laying its plot solely plausible as non-supernatural.
Its not one or the other you stupid autistic nigger
He could walk out with a hot wife, $5M in pocket, and maybe an avocado tree or two but he couldn't let go.
>but ultimately laying its plot solely plausible as non-supernatural
That's the whole point of Lovecraft, congratulations.
It is a character study. If you describe it as anything else you have missed the point and are incorrect. It is not a lovecraft story at all
>That's the whole point of Lovecraft, congratulations.
NANI?!?!?!?
The plot/narrative is a character study yes you nigger but were you asleep in storywriting 101 and forgot the difference between PLOT and SETTING ?
Retard retard retard
The plot is also not lovecraftian. A throwaway scene at the end doesnt make the story lovecraftian.
Why did everyone hate this season back when it released? I recently watched it for the first time and thought it was great.
