Is war really as fucked up as movies portray them to be?

This isn’t some surprise attack, their presence is already known. The two who get shot are crawling forth to lay down fire while the machine gun flanks, which is “squad attack” the very basic building block of the infantry squad. Problem is the NVA troops didn’t realize just how close they were to the two guys in the vid.

my father grew up in a warzone and he told me it was fun because you'd see huge fires, lots of noise, lots of new stuff to play with and explore etc. Then as he moved into being a teenager he realized the weight of people dying and entire families having to relocate

My dad once told me that he had his sister get shot in the head while they were inside a building during a civil war, and she didnt have a head anymore.

look at the russian invasion of ukraine. it looks even more fucked up than the movies depicted. why would anyone want to participate in this shit as infantry at least? your entire squad instantly gets vaporized from an artillery strike. a missile launched from hundreds of miles away gets shoved directly up your ass. you get ordered to dig trenches in radioactive soil and if you say no you get shot. some guys dressed as a soldier from your army kidnap you, cut your balls off and shoot you in the head

My father's side of the family grew up during the occupation of the Japanese. Indonesia was a poor country and everything was done mainly by mail and they would send money to family and receive money from others as well but would only know about arrests or execution if the money letters stopped coming in. My father's grandfather was send to Burma to work on the railroad and miraculously survived after setting a drill on his face and losing hearing in one ear because of an infected wound. His side of the family always acted strangely because they all had camp trauma's, like if you borrow something they demand it back asap an hour later and extreme pessimism. I remember as a young kid I would bite my nails and my grandma would tell me how it would get stuck in my throat and I would die a horrible painful death of infection because they wouldn't be able to get it out.

modern war is beyond bullshit.
i cant even imagine getting killed by a fat fucking virgin operating a killer-drone 500 miles away with an Xbox controller, while eating cheetos.
this isnt war.
thats just bullshit.
