I wouldn't say it's anti-war necessarily. It's against the glamorization of war, the way that propagandists spin it into some glorious thing. And it is against out-of-touch leaders who give stupid orders from the rear. It tries to show what war is really like and lets the audience draw their own conclusions. I never felt while watching it that a message was being forced on me.
