I've heard rave reviews of The Autopsy of Jane Doe but not watched it yet..

>Strangers: Prey at Night
Decent

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974 is the greatest scary movie ever put to the screen.

>The Omen 1976
>Night of the Living Dead 1968

It's very good. I highly recommend it, especially if you watch it knowing nothing about it.

The Exorcist. It's a lame answer but it's the truth. It's a wonderful character driven drama with religious themes punctuated with moments of amazing practical effects. So many horror films put the horror elements first and the characters are afterthoughts. The Exorcist is the opposite.

Lake Mungo

The Ring...
that's it for me, horror is retarded, no surprise girls love it

Tremors
The Thing
The Bone Collector

The first half is kino of the highest order. The second half is mediocre at best.

Prince of Darkness moment

The best part of the exorcist for me was the intro in Iraq. Barely a line of dialogue, but so much going on.

For example, the metal forgers clanging the hammers are a forshadowing of the radiation machine banging when used on reagan later. Many such other examples. It's also not in the book beyond a few sentences, so we know the book really doesn't explain the things going on in the film

Are we calling Jaws a "horror" movie? Pretty tame really, more of an adventure movie I'd say.
