How the fuck was this better than any of the sequel films. What went right?

Dunno, it was ok. Every star wars story movie was ok.
this scene wasn't in the movie
It was shit and this trailer shot wasn't even in the fucking film, of course because it looks like it's from a much more interesting movie
The only era worth a shit in Star Wars is the OT era and that's because the simple story of people on the fringes of galactic society fighting an oppressive empire is so great. Without the Rebels vs Empire dynamic you just have nothing but a bunch of faggy space wizards LARPing around and battles between two factions that nobody really cares about.
This
I rebel
>What went right?
Vader being an actual menace.
Felt good to see my boy slaughter rebel scum.
Didn't watch it. Won't. I refuse to watch any of the Disney nu-wars trash.
How is it that people either love this movie or hate this movie? Very weird
Wasn't it basically a fanfilm by some old lucasfilms chaps rather than the same disney feminists behind all the other disney star wars trash?
>Untying yourself from the constant chosen force user narrative
>Serious tone
>Showed the imperial perspective
>Made the rebellion more morally grey
>Nailed the aesthetics
>Gave us the first and only good ground battle in the series
>our 2 """"cynical""" protagonists start spewing meaningless platitudes about hope 10 minutes into the movie
>morally grey - a guy does a bad thing once then nothing bad ever again
>trailer shows a good ground battle, we get a much worse version
Name one memorable line.
Was pretty dull save for the end battle and all the death star porn. Remarkable feat considering the actors at hand and also the characters. Who would expect that movie with a wannabe Jedi samurai, a guy with a space chain gun, Forest Whitaker playing a rebel leader, Mads Mikkelsen as death star engineer gone rogue and the other guys could be so boring.
Yeah, it was pitched by John Knoll from ilm
he has story credit in the movie
also a producer
and visual effects supervisor
youtube.com
which explains the litlle bit of soul that RO has
JJ Abrams did not write it.
JJ Abrams did not produce it.
JJ Abrams did not direct it.
Formula for all good Star Wars movies/shows.
Needed to be 15-20min shorter. The middle really dragged ass.
The last 40min of the movie was some of the best Star Wards content every made IMO
Neither love or hate it. But it wasn't as abysmally bad as the ST. An okay movie, one can watch it to waste some time. Like some of the better capeshit movies.
People loved and respected the SW. Rogue also boasts the best SW space and ground battles.
it's a wikifag consoomer's version of Star Wars, so of course Any Forums and redditors love it
Why does Rogue One start with "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." despite them completely abandoning the fantasy/storybook style?
Worse than Solo, better than the ST
You mean being a Halloween movie monster. He could have grabbed the datachip or whatever in that scene, but was stuck in his badass fan service animations.
For some it was the EU books, for some it was the cartoon show, for me it was the graphic novels they released during the Clone Wars era. Those stories were darker, more samurai style violence, lots of tragedy and questions of fighting for the right cause, false flags, vengeance vs. redemption. Rogue One felt like something THOSE fans made
