Yeah I remember watching it a bit in school and then they just sent everyone home early about an hour later. This was in the middle of the country.

I think it was Pizza Hut that reported that they sold and delivered more pizza that day during the duration of the chase than the superbowl. Imagine being a delivery driver that day and you have seventy pizzas in your back seat and thirty stops.

I turned on the tv right before the 2nd plane hit. I was trying to watch cartoons before walking to school like I did every morning. I was in 4th grade. When I got to school the staff was crying and we had a moment of silence in the auditorium.

I used to watch Good Morning America during breakfast with my parents, it was pretty mind blowing with them suddenly cutting to a special report and seeing a smoking building only for a second plane to come in out of nowhere and seeing the other tower getting hit.
It’s honestly kind of crazy remembering that it actually happened and seeing how united we all were for like a year, I doubt any attack like that would unite us again.

Fun Fact, Dana Carvey was filming The Master of Disguise when the towers were hit and the cast and crew all had to have a moment of silence while he was still dressed up in the turtle costume. I'm not joking

Yup. We watched it at school live. Kinda frustrating because we didn't know when exactly the planes would hit, so we kept waiting and waiting for them and got kinda boring. It was exciting after they hit, but still. We were just glad to be watching TV at school

Many channels that were owned by news companies did, or had a banner running. Most channels kept their normal programming. But the History Channel was airing live coverage with a bottom banner saying "History for future generations", which in hindsight feels deeply unsettling.

yes. it was probably the greatest bit of propaganda ever filmed and public school systems were literally given free televisions for the sole purpose of forcing kids to watch it happen

Our teachers scared the fuck out of us. The first guy opened with “we are under attack” and then another teacher told us there were multiple planes still in the air and nobody knows where they are (there weren’t any more). My friend’s mom later said a terrorist could be on their way to blow up a nuclear power plant near us for all we know.
