What's the best version to watch of the Lord of the Rings movies?

Extended edition, all 3, in one sitting.

Enjoy your 9.5 hour marathon user

No bathroom breaks allowed either OP. Bring a catheter.

Director's Extended Cut Edition with film crew & actor commentary. Run time is only 36 hour. No breaks allowed.

Original release cuts. Lots of the extended edition is fluff that's actually kind of awkward and murders the pacing.

first time watching: theatrical cuts, it's what the entire world saw at the kinoplex, the pacing is much better, especially rotk
second time and beyond: extended cuts, they include a ton of great material and you already know the story so the pacing isn't an issue

still looking forward to the 25th anniversary editions jackson used to talk about where he includes a bunch of stuff filmed but left out of the extended, like what gimli and legolas do after we last see them, etc

Theatrical. Shit got cut for a reason, even the theatricals feel too long in some cases (see: RotK).

>what gimli and legolas do after we last see them
lewd

>literally miss all the kino Boromir flashbacks
Get out zoomie.

Extended.
NEVER watch theatrical.

>Can't read well
>Calls others zoomies
You're a clinically retarded TikTok user, I can tell

Remastered Bluray Trilogy. Looks absolutely stunning now that it's properly color graded and all shitty filters removed. Especially the fellowship of the ring as it has the least amount of green screen scenes.

>all the kino Boromir flashbacks

there's only one, larper, go watch more capeshit and leave lotr to the real men

this, but the opposite

Fellowship extended. Two Towers extended. Return of the King theatrical.

You know it's true.

The extended scenes in two towers looked horseshit. Worse than Hobbit.

>first time watching: theatrical cuts, it's what the entire world saw at the kinoplex, the pacing is much better, especially rotk

that cut away from aragorn's "WHAT SAY YOU?" and then not picking that story back up until they arrive at the battle works so much better than how it plays out in the extended version

even if just for this reason, you should the theatrical cut for a first viewing, agreed

The extended cut of Return of the King is mandatory. The other two can be theatrical if you must.

>Fellowship extended
No

>extended/theatrical
I'm not sure I remember the differences anymore.

>fellowship of the ring extended
>"here's some extra worldbuilding or quiet character moments"
>two towers extended
>"here's some worldbuilding but some dimwitted action scenes as well" about 50% is unnecessary
>return of the king extended
>"DUDE GIMLI AND LEGOLAS BURPING AND CRINGING WHILE STEPPING ON SKULLS OR SKULL AVALANCHE OR GIMLI NUDGING THE BOW OR THE DEAD TROLLING ARAGORN XDDD"

It's your choice what to do with TTT, but for the love of god don't watch Return of the King extended. The majority of extended the scenes should've been deleted scenes, and contribute nothing for the story.
