I prefer the Syfy miniseries.
Better costumes, good casting, three parts so it doesn't feel too rushed. Great casting for Baron Harkonnen and Duke Leto.

Of the two films, it's by far the superior adaptation, regardless how it completely fucks up the story. Nu-Dune was pure plot with every ounce of character and flavour completely stripped away, it's fucking shocking how bland it is. While Lynch didn't do the story half the justice it deserves and seemed to think it was actually all magic and prophecies (and removed the kung fu), he absolutely nailed the mood and the look better than anyone ever will.
But if you want a much better story adaptation, the Sci-Fi Channel miniseries from 2000 is the best.
