I agree. People will tell you Shrek 2 is better but it isn't.

Yeah, the Citizen Kane for Millenials. Be yourself it's so deep

they are both great films about loving a person for who they are, their flaws included.

2 was more about no matter how much you try to change for someone you love you should accept who you really are and your significant other should accept who you are. "accept and love yourself" the film

>Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, Farquaad, Dragon, Magic Mirror, Gingerbread Man, Thelonious, Robin Hood, Merry Men, Pinocchio, Big Bad Wolf, Blind Mice, Baby Bear, Three Pigs
10/10 cast

Still need to buy this one on Bluray

i only like the first movie. 2 is too stupid, sometimes bordering on lame

2 is better on every level

>directed by Andrew Adamson and Victoria Jenson
it was their directional debut and they did a fantastic job. Adamson is a kiwi who, at the time, was working as an independent visual effects guy on live action films, while Jenson was a background artist on many cartoons since the 80s

Donkey and Fiona are better characters in 1

>produced by John H. Williams
nobody ever mentions that producer is the founder of Vanguard Films. He approached Dreamworks in 1995 with the idea of making a film of Shrek book

> In her excellent book, Men Who Would Be King: An Almost Epic Tale of Moguls, Movies, and a Company Called DreamWorks, Nicole Laporte quoted an animator as noting, "It was known as the Gulag. If you failed on ‘Prince of Egypt,' you were sent to the dungeons to work on ‘Shrek.’ ”
> Appaerently the punishment even had a nickname - to be "Shreked."

that was in 1996-1997, when Farley was alive and played the character. It had a different story back then, and it was worse. This is why it was used as punishment

Shrek was the second film by that studio (Pacific Data Images), following Antz. It owes a lot to that film. Antz was the model to follow during Shrek's production

I was only nine years old. I loved Shrek so much, I had all the merchandise and movies. I'd pray to Shrek every night before I go to bed, thanking for the life I've been given. "Shrek is love", I would say, "Shrek is life". My dad hears me and calls me a faggot. I knew he was just jealous for my devotion of Shrek. I called him a cunt. He slaps me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel something touch me. It's Shrek. I'm so happy. He whispers in my ear, "This is my swamp". He grabs me with his powerful ogre hands, and puts me on my hands and knees. I spread my ass-cheeks for Shrek. He penetrates my butthole. It hurts so much, but I do it for Shrek. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Shrek. He roars a mighty roar, as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Shrek looks him straight in the eye, and says, "It's all ogre now". Shrek leaves through my window. Shrek is love. Shrek is life.

shrek was the first movie I ever bought on dvd and I remember being amazed at much clearer it was than vhs

he wasn't quite as involved with Antz and Shrek as he was with Prince of Egypt and El Dorado tho. To put it short, he was a daily presence during production of those 2D films, whereas he only visited the studio behind the CG films twice a week

When did you realize that Farquad and his kingdom represents Disney?

>nigger wants to be with white woman and evil white man is the villain because he wants to be with white woman but oh my god she was actually a nigger on the instead all along and now they can be together since she’s really a gross nigger on the inside????

This movie is garbage, who the hell wrote this trash.

"Welcome to Duloc" song is an obvious jab to a "It's a Small World After All". To be fair, Disney itself made fun of it already in Lion King

Anyone who grew up watching Shrek is a zoomer.
